Thank you ladies for the welcome.  I weighed in and charted it on my DietPower software. I have 2 fresh eggs and low salt spam on the counter.  Already laying out the meal for the day. Anybody for grilled milanesa steak, grilled asparagus and bell peppers?

I don't use Splenda anymore (gives me headaches and bloat) but I use Ideal sweetner - it's xylitol and I love it!  Also for dairy....I buy Hood Calorie Countdown milk (use to be Carb Countdown)...no added sugar instead uses Splenda.

I still have a small cupboard dedicated to low/no carb foodstuffs...catsup, soup, cereals, baking products, margarita mixes, etc.  It would be such a good thing to bring back honest low/no carb foods again

Hi Vickie!

Welcome to the low carb forum.  I'm really glad you're here.  Sound away and ask for advice.  Lisa gave you good direction to read the sticky posts at the top.  It will give you some great ideas.

I have to admit that I feel best when I dump most all carbs except dairy and a few veggies and protein supplement sources.  I lose all of my carb cravings pretty fast because dense protein fills me up.  Be sure to drink lots of fluids as you won't be eating as many things with higher hydration.

Keep coming around and post regardless of whether you think you're doing good or bad.  You'll find we've all been where you are.  I recently had added more berries and veggies and wasn't losing so Friday I really pared down to protein with a little lettuce.  So I'm right there with ya!  :)

Again, welcome and keep coming around please.

Hey, I thought 900 was high since I'm still in the losing phase.  I have no idea what's appropriate at 14 months out considering that I haven't made it to goal yet.  I'm open to all opinions and help.  I've had very few days at 1000 or more in the last 14 months.  I generally run around 800-900 depending on how much I exercise that day.  I have to say, it's tough to keep it under 800!

Hey there, welcome aboard!  You're gonna love how you feel!

Check out the links at the top of the discussion page, for some great ideas.  Keep checking back to see how others do it.

And know that all of us -- ALL of us -- have been heavily indoctrinated that adequate protein will ruin kidneys and liver.  We have all heard that fat makes us fat.  And we have heard that the key to slenderness is a carb-rich diet.  And all of it, wrong.

If you can get your hands on Gary Taube's books, give them a read.  Stay encouraged.

Really glad to have you here!

Well, I hope I can do this whole heartedly. I had my Lapband removed in Feb and have gained about 10-12 lbs. I am bloated from simple carbs, salt and other excesses.  I know low carb works but I have a fear of "ruining my health" by eating way too much protein and fat. I have had my culinary instructor lecture the class about how dangerous for the kidneys Atkins (or any serious low carb diet) is....

So I have 5 backyard chickens that provide me with delicious pastured eggs. I have bacon, turkey sausage, skinless chickens breasts, ground turkey, asparagus, broccoli, spinach, Ideal sweetener and protein powders....HELP!!

I am asking for direction and a sounding board....because it is not easy for the first few weeks and I need somebody to knock sense into my head about staying the course.

Sunday is easily the easiest low-carb day of the week for me --

B:  4 poached eggs, coffee with creamer
S:  more coffee, more cream
L: protein-style cheese and avocado sandwich with mayonnaise
S:  sugar-free halvah with chocolate
D:  probably the cheese and toppings off of a couple of pieces of pizza

Howabout you?

Lisa
