Had my 3 grandboys for five days...some serious de-carbing was in order. With DH OOT Tues-Fri seemed like a good time to do the 5 day pouch test, easiest way for me to decarb quickly This is day 2.

B double protein shake/almond milk
S cream of tomato soup
L shake as above
S butternut squash soup.yeck...
D cream of chix soup

You can make your own almond milk with raw almonds and a blender/food processor. I think a pound makes about a quart of milk...

If you do soy ... I recently went back to a hippy stape from my early years - Textured Vegetable Protein, AKA TVP and available from Bob's Red Mill (I think in an organic version).

I cook up a batch of this stuff every so often and keep it in the fridge, then heat up a bit in the morning with some almond milk, cinnamon and splenda - and it is a very good sub for oatmeal. It has a fair bit of protein, which you might boost with a bit of protein powder, and is very filling and low cal. I have NO problem with craving carbs after eating it (unlike a serving of oats, which I had missed!)

I have also used a recipe from about.com, which sounds weird but is VERY good in the morning: it is made with canned pumplin, ricotta and egg - and I add a lot of cinnamon and some nutmeg. Also filling and it fits in well with my eating plan. (Also, I think pumpkin is an Atkins approved veg for most phases.)

Best of luck when you see the PCP.  I always manage to get my fasting bloods done first thing in the morning, so have never had to work a day without eating.

I've looked for almond milk just about everywhere in SW Wales, no joy.  Soya milk isn't worth drinking to me.

Enjoy the beef..or fish..or both!

Sorry you not feeling your best... Hope you get better soon...

Yesterday I did good.  And I added some exercises after work- staining my deck (did 1/2 of the deck) and I am sure I burnt my carbs. Had to add some just before bed.   (due to RH - need to make sure my BS is  leveled)

today I am going to see my PCP at 4 pm and I hope he will run my blood work... so I do plan to stay just hydrated and avoid food... (8 hrs fasting blood work). if I can't then I may have to do the blood test tomorrow.

Anyway - plan is:
Coffee + almond milk (6-7 am)
1/2 nut bar, sunflower seeds (all before 8)
clear protein drinks (only if needed) - otherwise green tea...
dinner probably will be so hungry that will have to eat some beef and veggies... or maybe fish?

Man 'flu since Sunday, so I'm doing a good impression of the Bubbly-Snot Monster!  Just thought I'd share the joy...

2 boiled eggs and 1 Ryvita
3 Ryvita and low fat cheese triangles
Lamb burgers
2 Atkins bars
Coffee and tea.

I've lost half a pound in the last three weeks, so I won't complain.  Where is everyone this week?

You can loose that five and you will.  Its hard but we both will get carb control again.  My best rule is NEVER to buy a larger size.  If clothes get tight I must do without.  Even if my carbs are not straight, having nothing to wear forces me to watch the weight gain.
