Topic: RE: Chocolate: Do You Have Some Every Day?
I eat some form of chocolate about once a week.  My favourite way is to add cocoa powder to  coconut oil , with some nuts, stevia and unsweetened coconut flakes.

I "try" to only eat items that have some health benefit.

My chocolate fix is in the form of my daily protein shake, chocolate sugar-free soymilk, and sugar-free Russell Stover chocolates  (trying to cut back on the Russell Stover - eating too many of those lately).    :)

Hi Hala,

Just wanted to wish you all the best with your colonoscopy.  I have not had one but know people who have, and it seems the prep is the worst part of it.  I also have RH and would be equally concerned about the cleaar liquids.

I also empathize with you about those pesky 5 to 10 lbs.  I have gained 10 lbs from my low weight and I am 5 lbs above my goal weight.  I'm working on losing those 5 lbs.  You would think after all the weight we've lost that losing a few pounds wouldn't be so hard..... but it is!!!!  Now that the "honeymoon" is over, this maintenance thing is hard.

Topic: RE: Atkins and gaining
Hi Raynetta,

The same thing happened to me!  I reached goal after RNY in July of last year (140 lbs), then dropped below goal to 135 lbs.  Then I decided to get into maintenance and chose Atkins as my way of eating.  I rather quickly went up to 138 lbs, then back up to 140.  I was OK with this as I felt I looked better at 140 and many people told me the same.  Then, over the last couple of months, I started going up more.  I dropped my already low daily carb level from 25 net carbs down to induction level of 20 net carbs a day.  Not only did I not lose, but I gained more, until I was up to 146 lbs.  I am now 145 lbs.  I LOVE the Atkins way of eating, but I realize I've been overindulging in fats, which may be why I've gained and not lost.   It seems I replaced my old tendency to overindulge in carbs with overeating fats (especially butter - lots of it).   I rationalized that since fats are GOOD and very much allowed on Atkins, that I could eat as much of them I want with no regard to the amount of calories I was eating.

I wish I had some suggestion.  For me, I'm going to have to go back to old fashioned calorie counting and lower my caloric intake because it's way too high right now.

Mowed part of my 2-1/2 acres for the first time this season, so that was my PE (physical exercise) - no riding mower... just run 'o the mill gas push mower

I was wiped out after a long week, so after feeding the animals, I went back to bed and shamefully skipped breakfast.

L - 2 ounces tuna salad
S - 2 ounces chicken
D - 2  beef ribs with 0-carb BBQ sauce, chopped brocoli
S - 1/4 cup ricotta with splenda and a touch of unsweetened cocoa.

Hello! So glad I found this group!

I had lap Rny in June of 2006 and lost a total of 106 pounds. I've sinced gained 45 of those pounds back- and I have decided to revert back to the high protein/low carb method of eating. I hope to have and give some support along the way! I've been on the diet for one week now and I've already lost 7 pounds!!
I am having a few hiccups though- like the light headedness, and headaches, but I believe ultimately- this will be worth a try!!

Looking forward to interacting with you all!!

Topic: Decarbing - liquid diet for a few days... want to join me?
I am going to have colonoskopy next Friday. So that gave me idea to do a real cleanse, and decarb and lose these pesky 5-10 lbs that does not want to go.  (it does not bother me too much... but most of my clothes are really tight and some will not fit)

Need to decarb again... I will have to be on liquids for a few days next week (colonoskopy) so I think I gave myself "permission" to eat more... feeling sorry for myself at what is going to happen...  I am OK, but at the same time, the RH may be a bit of a problem...
But I can drink clear liquids... and just for reasons like that I have some Isopure in my house. Don't love it, but it will do.

I am planing to eat light the next few days and start my cleanse on Monday...
Lost of good herbs (teas), some magnesium to start flushing things out, some fiber to help things moving, herbals teas for the liver and the kidneys... etc...
Some extra vitamins, and I should be OK.

Thanks. Glad I did not break up any rules about posting...  lol...

Last few days more carbs started sneaking into my food... the little nasty bustards...lol... so sneaky.  When you relax a bit and stop journaling food... they just poop right back  into your food and also made you eat more... so the calories was higher also... And since I am very busy lately.. the exercise is close to non-exiistant. So I need to shape up and start journaling again.  It keeps me aware what is in the food I eat.

today plan will be simple:

coffee + almond milk
handfull of pumpkin seeds ( last one for the whole week)
protein shake
tuna + pickles  or some cheese + veggies
yogurt + flax + proteins.
protein shake (if going out, to make sure I can wait for a late dinner..)
salad + fish or light soup..
LNS: cheese... (to keep my BS stable over night)

Thank you to Hala for posting this thread yesterday -- MUCH appreciated!  Some days I just don't seem to make it online, and I am grateful that there was someone to pick up when I was slacking!

Okay folks, post your low-carb efforts here!

My plan:

B:  cheesy omelet and coffee with full cream and SF choc syrup
S:  MartitaLinda's parmesan crackers
L:  "protein style" pastrami sandwich with beet salad
S:  half a banana (keep in mind I'm at maintenance) and a glass of milk
D:  chicken, vegetable sopu, spaghetti squash
