Atkins and Low Carb Weight Loss

Topic: RE: Introduce Yourself!
Hi. Yipee I am sooo happy to find this group. I am starting Atkins tomorrow. I have been reading Dr. Atkin's New Diet Revolution . I wish the book had an index as I it would be much easier to look up certain thing in the back.
I am 64 year old woman who had had a history of yo-yoing. I struggled most of my life with my weight . I ended up in 1984-85 going to Durham NC and went on the Rice diet- a high carb diet no less! It totally screwed my system that's for sure. While I lost 80 lbs and got down to 120 lbs I wasn't able to keep the weight off. I spent tons of money doing the program and plastic surgery only to regain my weight and then some. Eventually I just gave up. Finally last year I topped 310 lbs -5'2"- and I was having to face have knee surgery. I didn't trust myself to keep any weight off permanently so I took the plunge and had RNT August 25th. It was the best decision I ever made. I have lost 140lbs since April 1 2010.
My reason for doing Atkins is my weight loss has slowed down to a crawl. I lost only 4.5lbs in the month of May. Yikes this is slower the molasses in January. I have been logging my food religiously every day since I started in April 2010. I am one of these people that likes to read a lot about the reasoning behind Atkins. Because I haven't read Atkins book thoroughly yet I haven't gotten a clear explanation as to why you can't have any alcohol during the induction phase- especially when some alcohol has zero carbs. If you have found the good explanation in the book I would love to get the page numbers where he addresses this in his book.
Thanks fo r having this support group. Sorry about not having a photo of me I have tried uploading many times and so far I have had no success on that.
all the best to you all, Sarah

Bacon and scrambled eggs
Ryvita and low fat cheese triangles

Coffee and tea.
May well have to reduce my diabetic tablets as I'm waking up sweating in the early morning. This indicates my blood sugars are running low during the night - YAY!

Hey people... let 's see.. I am late posting this so here it goes:
Today I got my blood work results. And except my iron (low) everything looks great.
I guess eating mostly meat and then meat and cheese and and eggs... etc... makes your Blood work really good. i.e. my cholesterol is 148 (total) with HDL 58, and triglycerides: 50... and so on...
Thursday eats:
coffee + al. milk (x 2)
bacon, 2 cheese sticks
protein shake
beef roast + green lettuce
peanuts, peach
London broil + lettuce
1/4 nut bar
liver + onions
Will post Friday Tomorrow.
