It was only blended and sold in a little shop off the Hampstead high street.  If I visit London I'll buy some for you - if the shop's still there...  Nearest I've tasted to it is Russian Caravan Tea - Twinings make up occasional batches of it.

I'm so glad I don't do McD.

What/ where are the 'lower 48', is it the states under the Canadian border?

Hey everyone! Love that there is now an Atkins group now!

I've always been a bit on the heavy side, my sophomore year of highschool I was diagnosed with hashimoto's thyroiditis and have since been on meds for this. Also diagnosed with PCOS, prediabetes, high cholesterol, depression all before the age of 23!! Anyhow, even though losing weight has been a tough battle due to being 'metabolically challenged', I finally got serious about getting healthy only after I had ballooned up to 296 lbs while in nursing school.  Because really, who wants a nurse taking care of you who doesn't even take care of themself?!!

I was on doctor supervised diets for nearly 4 years, as well as an avid food journalist and exerised 4 days a week alternating between aerobics and weight training.  I would initially lose around 20 lbs but instantly gain the weight back the moment my thryroid was being evil...this is also the time the doctor's have had to increase my dose. Anyhow, to make a long story short, I was actually advised by not one but 2 doctor's to look in to having RNY. They actually thought I would be a great candidate for the surgery. After a year and a half of research, I had RNY November 2009. I started out weighing 290 lbs, and today I am down to 165. I am 15 lbs away from my personal goal weight of 150 lbs.
For the first time EVER, my doctor has DECREASED my thyroid medicine dose, I am off ALL antidepression meds and my PCOS symptoms have decreased drastically!
What has helped me more than anything during this journey has been a high protein, low carb eating lifestyle..this is why I am Atkins advocate!
I think that many of our bodies really respond well to this type of eating.
Anyhow, I am hoping to reach my goal weight by May of this year.

Here's to a great new year everyone!! Cheers!!

Re:  US portion sizes ....,. TOO LATE!!!!

Saver Menu

(It's the UK "Saver Menu")

And I have no idea why the water has to be right, to make the tea right, but this surely is the case.  My tea in London was amazing ... same stuff in Los Angeles was blech.  Yorkshire goes well with local water.  But of course, now I have to go and see if I can find Hampstead Breakfast Blend.

Thanks a lot!

It's 1900 hrs Sunday, tomorrow I will have:

2 scrambled eggs
2 Atkins bars
4 ozs smoked Austrian cheese
4 meat-only sausages
4 ozs lamb
4 ozs chicken (If I keep down the 2 ozs I've just had for Sunday Dinner)
Otherwise 4 ozs corned beef or Ardennes pate with bacon and Ryvita
Coffee with cream and fruit teabags.

No weight loss this week, but I stall for weeks then suddenly lose......

Lower 48??

Yorkshire tea is pretty good, but we've moved on to Twinings Everyday tea.  When I lived in London I bought Hampstead Breakfast Blend from the local coffee and tea emporium, but it tastes disgusting with the water in Wales.......  I won't send you marzipan if you don't bring US portion sizes over here!  LOL

Lee, first of all, CONGRATULATIONS!   You didn't go for the major toxic-load carbs, just nuts!  The sodium, might have been high, but frankly there are many low-carb eaters who have nuts all the time, with little impact.

And also CONGRATULATIONS for being able to honestly look at your own behavior with an eye to doing better next time.

Boy oh boy, have I had major-stress days that sent me running for starchy or sugary carbs (I myself had a huge Jordan Almonds day last week .... that gnawing on crunchy nuts, and the rush of the sugar, was very soothing, unfortunately.)  But ... like you .... Back to my healthier way of eating, right away.  As far as I'm concerned, you are going about things the RIGHT WAY!

Also, I happen to think you rock,.

Lisa

PS    I'm trying to find it, alas no luck, but I read somewhere about a published research study -- I mean someone did a study and published a book -- with a title like "Chocolate cake reduces depression" -- I nearly died laughing and I would love to find it.  I mean, we eat this stuff because it temporarily gives us a lift, or we wouldn't do it at all.  But if I find the study, I'll send you a link for a laugh.
