Topic: How do you know when it's binge eating?
Okay folks -- I feel like one of those old Calgon -- Take Me Away commercials

but Calgon will NOT take me away from the job, the kids, the bills, the ... whatever!  So . . . last night I came home and made lasagna -- practically a slider food.

I didn't do any serious damage dietarily -- the roux en y assured that -- but it occurred to me that it was binging when I downed an entire bowl in about two minutes.  At some point I wanted to eat more, but there was no more room in my pouch.

But for me, it was both the speed and intensity of the eating (and the palpable anger I felt towards above-mentioned teenagers) that helped me realize what I was doing.

Realizing it, by the way, did not STOP me.

So ... how do YOU know when you're binging?  Do you feel it coming on?  Do you know it when it's happening?  Is it only after the fact?  Is it when you don't even have any idea what you're doing because you blank out?

Planning ahead is EVERYthing! Sounds like you are doing a great job of anticipating your nutritional AND emotional eating needs!

I had to go look up American Heritage Girls -- Looks like a really great organization. Hope you come back and tell us how much fun you and your daughter had (and also about your infamous low-carb salam rolls).

I didn't track my food today in large part because I've just been soaking up low-carb lasagna out of pure family aggravation. Six kids in the house right now, and five of them are teenagers, so as you might imagine there's a lot of drama (especially when they're bored because there really IS no drama).

This was pretty much my day:

B: eggs hollandaise (you're probably getting tired of reading this)
coffee with evaporated milk as creamer

L: low-carb lasagna -- exactly like regular lasagna but made with blanched cabbage in place of noodles -- Usually I blanch and chill them a day ahead, because no one wants to eat lasagna when the house smells like boiled cabbage!

S: More lasagna

D: chicken soup, chicken, green beans, and probably a glass of wine if all of the teenagers show up, sheeeeeeeeeesh

Another OH'er (not a low carber) saw this thread and gave me a tip.

You have to beat the hell out of those egg whites.  That's how you get the right texture.

She's been making these regularly for some time now.  They can be easily flavored however you like.  Her favorite is to serve them like pancakes.

OK, I'm still a little earlier; but I am awake around 5 am Eastern time. I do better if I preplan my day, and I'm afraid if I wait, I won't get around to posting (like I did yesterday). I hope this is ok?

I have a bit of a challenge tonight, as my daughter and I will be attending a sleep over / lock in for American Heritage Girls. We are making blankets to donate to a local women with children abuse center. There will be foods--lots of food. I am taking those infamous, low carb salami rolls and hoping to avoid the sweets. For my salty crunch fix, I'm taking port rinds. And if the sweet / chocolate craving**** I have my Premier Protein drinks. That's the plan anyway.

Here is what I have planned for today:

Marble Jack cheese, 1 oz 110 0 9 6
Regular Coffee, 10 cup (8 fl oz) 24 0 0 3
Ham Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh Smoked, 1.8 oz 45 0 2 8
Chicken Breast, no skin, 6 ounces 187 0 2 39
Bumble Bee Sardines in Water, 1 can drained, 1 serving 120 0 7 13
Roo's Salami Dill Rolls -- Nut info is per roll, 6 serving (view recipe) 253 1 23 10
Hard Boiled Egg, 2 large 155 1 11 13
Premier Nutrition Protein Chocolate Shake (Costco), 2 serving 320 10 6 60
Pork Rind (0.5 oz), 2 serving 160 0 10 18

I had a very high carb day.... for me!  Oy vey.  I didn't want to post, but that's why I have to!

In random order
1 protein shake
1 protein pudding
almond breeze
1 baby back rib
1 apple
1/2 grapefruit
1/4 cup fiber one twigs
10 pepperoni slices
1 T parmesean cheese
2 oz manchego cheese

I didn't eat enough dense protein and felt hungry all day long.  Tomorrow is a new day and I'll be eating meat meat meat.  I had a sore throat yesterday and woke up with it today.  i wonder if that's why i was craving fruit so much?  I thought the carbs would be much higher, as well as the calories.  I'm glad I tracked.

Calories - 1017
Protein - 94
Carbs -  49

1 hour pilates class tonight.
