Delores, I have to agree about what we were raised seeing as "normal".  As a child, I was the family cook during the week because my parents both worked.  Starting in 5th grade, i was responsible for having dinner on the table when the family came home at 5:30.

When I was raising my kids, dinner was sacred time.  Everyone had to be there.  We sat at the table and talked about our day.  The kids reported what they learned in school and talked about their sport teams.  Definitely no TV, just music playing in the background.

Sorry you're sick!  i hope you're better today.

I woke up with a wigglie Sleevie yesterday morning.  Thought I'd have to stay home from work, then figured out that it was the new Calcium that I started taking on Wednesday.  I think I have to build up to those 6 horse pills.  I take 3 doses and took 1 close to bedtime and it just sat in my Sleeve complaining all night.

I didn't worry so much about the carbs, but ate what felt ok.

Calories  783 Protein 62 - low Total Carbs 59    10am - 1/2 cup fage w/blueberries 1pm - 1/2 cup kung pao chicken,  1 fresh rice paper wrapped vietnamese spring roll 4pm - 1/2 cup fage w/blueberries 8:30 after pilates class and costco to take a neighbor 1 chicken leg green beans w/sliced almonds 1/2 cup red raspberries

I've had a head cold all day -- nothing but coffee, tea, and chicken soup.  But I still want to know what you all are eating LOL!

I'm heading off to bed -- I expect to see glorious menus when I return from Nyquil Heaven!

Interested in low-carb nutrition?  Thinking of trying Atkins? Want to try high-fat and/or high-protein eating?  Whether or not you have had (or are thinking about) WLS   http://www.obesityhelp.com/group/atkins/

We do eat a relatively "kingly" dinner -  but it still mainly consists of protein and 1 or 2 low carb veg - sometimes some lentils or quinoa instead of a veg. I like the routine of making our daily family dinner somewhat of a privileged space in the day, and preparing foods that are a bit special, rather than just scrambling some eggs, helps create that atmosphere. I did this when I was single too - I actually like cooking for myself and prepared dinner plus planned leftovers for the next day's lunch (this was pre WLS - so I wasn't usually low-carbing).

Having said that - I pretty much eat the same way all day - breakfast is either leftovers from dinner, tuna sashimi, or a scrambled or fried egg and homemade turkey sausage patty. Occasionally ricotta or cottage cheese or the pumpkin / ricotta/egg/flaxseed "Hot cereal" recipe from about.com low carb section. (Sounds weird but is really yummy and filling!)  Lunch is leftovers or a few vegetable sticks, a hard boiled egg, and a slice of turkey from the salad bar.

And, having said THAT, I am totally stalling these days, at about 10-15 pounds from goal weight, so maybe what I do isn't all that fabulous a plan!

I count both.  I maintain at 800-1000 calories w/10- 20 total carbs and an hour of walking or other exercise.  My body seems to be extremely resistent.  My mind is now resistent to taking me lower than 800 calories.  I find that I'm hungry all the time.
