Hi, my name is Hala. I was an overweight child and teen, then on so many diets that I got my "normal weight" but it was very hard to maintain. gaining and losing weight was an issue for me.
But that was a challenge. when I ate right and exercise - I would lose weight.. only to regain it a few months after I stopped.. That until my back went out and I had steroid injections.... no matter what I did - I could not loose weight, Well. I would work my butt off for 2-3 weeks to lose 5 lbs only to gain it back in 2-3 days. So finally I had the RNY.
But a year or so from RNY I developed RH. Not fun. Trust me. So even when I may otherwise choose to be "bad" (food wise) I can't. My RH is really reactive to starchy or sugary food. Even a small amount may trigger that. And I hate the RH. With passion. So now I do choose a low carb style. To control my RH. And to maintain my weight loss.

Congratulations!! That is wonderful that you have tamed the carb monster once again and reaped the benefits!!

Cinnamon Muffins!!!
Just swiped this off of the main board, tried it -- and yummy!
ONLY ONE NET CARB!!!
1/4 Cup Flaxseed Meal
1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon Splenda (optional)
1 egg
Mix everything together in a coffee cup. Cook for one minute in the microwave. Turn the cup upside down to take the muffin out. If it looks wet, let it sit for a minute or so. I have these for breakfast. You can add blueberries, or try other additions. Some people add a tablespoon of cream cheese before cooking.
Calories 195
Fat 9 gram
Protein 12 gram
Carbs 9 grams
Fiber 8 grams
Sugars 0 grams
Just swiped this off of the main board, tried it -- and yummy!
ONLY ONE NET CARB!!!

Is an excellent site for nutritional data and they have a nutrition tracker and recipe maker which I use.
You can compare foods by lowest and highest of whatever nutrient you want to plug in, such as lowest in calories/highest in protein.
I will clean it up and post it on the recipe sticky.

Wow, Pam, what an accomplishment! To lose fifty pounds using healthy eating, when you are probably very close to ideal weight, is a very big deal, and we all applaud you!!!! Very impressive!
You must be feeling great, too. Most of us (not all, but most) are here trying to do something similar, and we look forward to having your voice in ths mix! Hope you will be able to add plenty of good advice and support to others who are trying to do as you have done!

Okay, folks, watcha eatin' today?
I am on four antihistamines, plus decongestants, nose sprays, and inhalers. This headcold is whipping my behind (and everything else besides). So though I did in fact start my day with the customary eggs hollandaise and coffee with full cream, I think the rest of the day is going to be chicken soup, chicken soup, chicken soup, broken by the occasional cup of tea.
Not going to bother counting the carbs in the meds, but that's probably it for me, today!
What I want to know today:
1) What did you eat today? ANdddddddddd .....
2) What are you doing for fun this Saturday?
