Topic: I REALLY need help...
I haven't been here for a little while now, because i haven't been sticking to the LOW CARB theme of things AT ALL..!!

I have been under sooo much stress with my Grandmother being sooo ill.. and my mom being soooo upset...I have been to and fro, here and there, trying to help my mom out as much as possible and I'm telling you it has been VERY STRSSFUL...I'm eating whatever Ican pick up quickly and easily...LOW CARB has not been a part of my life I'm sad to say..

My Grandmother's Dr. says the next 48 hours will tell us alot where everything stands with her care...My Mom is falling to pieces as she is the one that HAS to make the tough decisions...This in turn has affected me in more ways than one...

I got on the scale and have gained 4 pounds..I AM DEVISTATED TO SAY THE LEAST...!!
Thing is...I know the next week or 2 is going to be even more Stressful...!!
I DO NOT WANT TO GAIN ANYMORE WEIGHT BACK...AND NOW, I HAVE FOUR MORE POUNDS TO GET OFF AGAIN...!!

PLEASE KEEP US IN YOUR THOUGHTS AND IF YOU PRAY FOR PEACE IN MY MOMS MIND, AND PRAY I CAN STOP THIS ROLLERCOASTER RIDE I'M ON...!!

THANKS EVERYONE...

It sounds to me like you are doing great with what you are eating. I assume that you're checking all labels to make sure that there are no hidden carbs/sugars? If you are super carb sensitive like me then you may want to consider leaving out beans. They could trigger hunger and cravings.

In my opinion, if you are hungry - then eat! According to Gary Taubes - author of "Why We Get Fat" we should eat at least 1500 cals per day - mostly protein and fat - very few carbs. Eating fat helps a great deal with hunger and satiety.

Topic: Hunger w/high protein?
I'm a pre-op on a low-carb/low-calorie diet, and I've been doing okay for the past week.  Today, though, I find myself to be ravenous and I just can't seem to eat enough to not be physically hungry.  Should I just accept that I'm hungry and drink more water, or am I doing something wrong?

Here's my food intake today:

B-Protein shake

L-Chicken bowl from Chipotle (chicken, black beans, tomato salsa,  sour cream)
    *ate half*

S-100 calorie almond package

D-small spinach salad w/hard boiled egg and 1 slice bacon, crumbled
5 mini quiche (crustless, made from eggs, ground beef, cheese, and flax)
4 cheese "crackers" (shredded cheese melted)

96 oz water, Beneful fiber mix-n, Special K protein water mix in

35 minutes jogging on treadmill

I know to those of you that are post-op that seems like A LOT of food, and I guess it is.  I think my carb count was pretty low (although I did eat a lot of cheese it looks like), but any ideas as to why I'm still feeling hungry and what I can do about it?

TIA

Thank you for inspiration. This group reminded me that I do need to watch carbs, and be very vigilant about that.
Yesterday it was an OK day.  Got food poisoning (day old shrimps = I should known better), so not only carbs, but overall calories were low.
Today I plan to have great foods:
protein shake, chicken soup+ flax, Greek yogurt with proteins and flax and berries, and tuna shushimi.  Some cheese as a LNS ..to keep my blood sugar stable through the night...

Controlling carbs addiction is easy when you falling in love... lol...

Okay folks, for me the key is PLANNING!  Got myself into some real trouble on Tuesday because as they say, when you fail to plan, you plan to fail ....

TODAY my plan is (and you go ahead and post your plan or your actual meals):

B:  eggs hollandaise
S  egg custard (sugar-free)
L: roast beef and chopped liver with mustard
S: protein shake
S2: cheese
D: chicken curry

That's gonna have to be it for me, for today!

Howabout you?

Hi Lee, I know that you had some recent lab work done. What was your blood glucose level? Sounds like hypoglycemia to me, but it is good that you will be seeing your surgeon soon.

Thanks Lee,  I do need to relax.
Good idea to check the vits. I take a chewable multi 1 x day and that has 2g. carb, from sorbitol it looks like. My chewable calcium has 1g. per tablet and I usually just manage to get in 2 of those per day. Those carbs come from sugar. So though the carbs are pretty  low, the sugar may be causing a problem. I don't know.
Most of my carbs come from dairy. Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and regular cheese. Occasionally some lettuce or a few berries or some salsa. I've decided to cut the dairy for awhile and just eat meat and eggs, and I definitely need to work on my water intake. Thanks for the ideas, and I will start checking in with the daily CAR too.

Good evening

I finally broke down and bought some keto-strips today to see if I'm in ketosis, and I am!  Granted, it was mid-level, but as long as I'm burning fat, I don't care.  I heard from my surgeon's office and all of my bloodwork came back fine, which on the one hand is great, but on the other it makes me scared about the final submit to insurance because I have no comorbidities.

Anyway, this is what I ate today-

salmon and cauliflower
7 almonds
protein shake
spinach with tuna, egg, and greek yogurt dressing
s.f. pudding
water, water, water

This was a heavier food day for me and averaged about 1200 calories.  i'm trying to stay at or below 1100, but I'm also afraid I'll stall if I eat too little, especially since I'm still a pre-op and I'm exercising daily.
