Topic: How to get enough Fiber
I am wondering how do you get enough fiber when doing low carb? I keep trying atkins but then I cant go to the bathroom.  I was told I need 25 to 30 grams of fiber a day for the colon, is this try? What does everyone else do, I am sure I am not alone, or at least I hope not.  Need to get this extra weight off that I have gained.

I have an egg-bread recipe, I think the ratios are thus:

3 whole eggs
1 tablespoon salt
(1/2 cup sugar or equivalent)
5 cups gluten (pricy, but worth it)
1/4 C oil
1 packet yeast (1/3 of a strip)
1 C + 2 tablespoons warm water

It goes into the bread machine, and when I wake up -- there's bread!!!

can't remember exactly when I did the calculations, but I think it was something like two parts protein to one part carbs, and I never keep track of fat.

Makes a very dense, chewy loaf.  But I don't get that white-flour blah happening to me afterwards.

MrBigJ, may I ask if you have specific objectives or just think this may be a plan you might like or are simply exploring lc options?

I had similar thoughts to MsWaD on slowing metabolism.  You'd have to add some fat to each shake and even then more than a couple of days may be counter productive.  However, it depends on why prefer go liquid to begin with.  Your personal goals may make it worth while.

Some folks, myself included find it curbs binge eating and we're feeling 'normal' again after a day or two.  In my first year I did a day of liquids most weeks just so my digestive tract felt more like it did pre op.  If I understand what you're going for maybe I have a book mark somewhere that can serve the purpose.

Hope I can help.

I could not ind any specifics in the lc plans I've taged over time.

L home made chili
S turnip greens
S salsa and soy flax chips

Okay, weekend edition has been mostly sandwiches made with high-protein bread --

For those of you who make your own bread, I can share from personal experience that substituting wheat gluten for plain wheat flour produces a very nice loaf, and about 75% of the calories are protein.

So today was:

2 poached eggs with high-protein bread
Coffee (there's always coffee)
Chicken sandwich on high protein bread, with mayo and avocado
Mandelbread (just one, but it was worth it)
Chicken curry

Ta DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

I've been giving this some thought -- It would be a very low calorie plan -- and I'm wondering if this might send you into starvation mode and actually hinder weight loss.

Do you usually have a lot of shakes?

Hello group, my name is Jennifer and I have had WLS. I had my lapband placed almost 2 years ago and have lost 100lbs. My diet is Atkins, most of my carbs come from veggies and I don't eat bread rice or pasta. I love Atkins and feel that it is a lifestyle that I can live with and I don't feel like I am missing out on anything.

Hope to meet some more Atkins followers here and give and receive support from others who know about the Atkins lifestyle.

Jennifer

lapband in 2008 at 298lbs , lowest weight was 183lbs , Band almost killed me and removed in 2011. No revison because to much damage for revision.

Anti Lap-band advocate!
