Hi all... I'm Michelle and I had Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass 2/2002, and lost from 320 down to 139 at my lowest.  I've since gained back up to about 222 and am very sad.  I was considering a revision but don't want to go through it all again.  I started Atkins today and lived through day one!  I ate well and felt full...  My goal is to get down under 190 and then have my tummy tucked (which should take off 20+ pounds).  I don't have a goal in mind, just want my joints to feel better and not get winded when I walk more than a few feet.  I know that in theory if I get back to basics, i.e. protein protein protein, that I should lose weight again.  I'm glad to have found this group.  It's nice to find some other people on the same plan for support.  Best of luck to you all!

Chelle

Now doing Atkins to get the weight back off.  Wish me luck!!!

The carbs are in sugar alcohols?  You're luckyyyyyyyyy .... I can't eat more than a smidgen without humiliating myself all day .... too much intestinal evidence!

Ohhh, I have gone berry diving before!  Fruit is my downfall in the summertime.  I mean c'mon -- grapes, watermelon, canteloupe, plums, peaches, and get this -- a fig tree with ambrosial fruit RIGHT OUT SIDE MY FRONT DOOR!  And each of them babies is as big as my fist!!!!

(The endless fruit is also why I might go to WW for support but never lose an ounce doing their plan.)

Oh c'mon -- post your good and your bad along with the rest of us.  We miss you when you're not here!

oh I am SOOO sorry this happened to you!  My daughter had one of those last fall, right as school was beginning -- lasted about 36 hours, but she thought (and then wished) that she would die.

Bounced right back though -- and hope you will too!

Thank you, you are very sweet!

I think that most of us come to this group with exactly the same issue, to tell the truth -- it's a matter of undoing the damage we have accumulated -- whether over years, months, weeks, or a really rough morning.  And honestly, down to the last person among the 315+ here -- every single encounter has been positive.  (Not a lotta groups can say THAT!)

The biggest bonuses are the people here who are very knowledgeable, helpful, supportive and (like you) pretty well experienced at the lower-carb way of eating.  Truly a wealth of information!

Nice to have you here!

Honey, I'm home!

I spent a week in berryland.  WW was not good to me tonight.  I'm up a pound for the last two weeks, so I'm back with the white flag in hand.  I didn't eat any other carbs besides some fruit.  No grains, flour etc.  I need to post everyday!

Monday:
4 oz shrimp
3 oz beef
1/2 packet protein pudding
2 slices bacon
1 chicken wing
1 T cream cheese
Pork Rinds

Calories - 889
Protein - 97
Carbs - 6

Topic: My little foray into FRUITVILLE!
Oh my goodness.  It started with a raspberry.  Then the raspberry wanted company from that plump little blackberry and then they both called out to the strawberry to come have a party.  It was quite sumptuous and delightful.  They wore their most plumpy gorgeous selves so that I couldn't refuse to partake and delight in their natural beauty.   Walking through Whole Foods with them happily riding my cart, they reached out and grabbed that ripe suculant Pineapple, screeching HURRAY!  We're going to make a real party in her mouth for sure.  And did you know that they all thought that a little cutie just had to join the party for the week.  One surely wasn't enough because you know, cuties get lonely when left to their own devices.  So a party it was.  A glorious week of a few berries here and there, followed by a cutie or a taste of pineapple.  They never abused me, never more than 1 or maybe 2 (on a big party day) fruits a day.    They did snicker just a bit when they saw the havoc they were wreaking on myfitnesspal.  Oh my, they jumped up and down with delight at the rising carbs and they smacked my hand everytime I went to log my food on the Atkins group.

And then BAM!  Smackdown at Weigh****chers.  No weight loss.  No surprise here. Those sneakly little carbs had to go live at someone else's house.  They really did cry because there weren't that many and they didn't want to leave my beautiful little kitchen.  They tried to insist that Sleevie would miss them.... NOT.

So after a week of being led astray I'm keeping my eyes focused on the chicken salad and shrimp and eggs and everything protein and I'm not even going to write that sad little "wish you were here" letter to the fruit that went to live upstairs.

Getting to goal is way too important for me to get led astray.
