Hello, my fellow Atkins and Low-Carb Losers!!!

I haven't been here except to read, for months, due to a post-op glitch: I am not absorbing fats well, they glide through me, and I was developing deficiencies and grotesque poop problems (don't ask).  Fr the last month I have been off of Splenda, and unable to eat my usual Atkins-type diet. Inflammation has dropped, anemia has improved, but I have gained weight and am devastated.

Just the re-introduction of carbs to replace the calories lost from fat has screwed up my metabolism, and every molecule of carbohydrate seems to convert to a pound of body weight.  I might be exaggerating, but I am up in weight (though feeling much better).

Really, I need help.  I need some way of eating a higher-protein diet that is lower in fat, but also low in carbs, and I am unable to figure out how to do that.  Just transitioning to lower-fat has been a huge hurdle.  If I'm not going to be getting as many calories from fat, then the calories are going to come from .... what!!!!

Anyone have any good suggestions?  Or even bad ones (I'm desperate).

Hala, thank you.  I don't know why some posts get diverted to cyberspace.

My solution was to turn to math.  Here's what my new plan is (I have gotten through two days of this):

Protein 150 grams (this should be about 600 calories)
Fat 40 grams (should work out to 360 calories)
Carbs - 25 net (should be about 100 calories)

grand total 1060 should e little enough for me to lose weight.

I tried to google this and you get either/or not both. I see that you figured out how to get calories in so what does your day typically look like now?

you could also look at the dukan diet plan its low carb low fat,  and eventually tried to allow carbs back in,,

but the inital plan may work well for you if you check it out..

I haven't been here in awhile and I'm so sorry to read of your difficulty.  The plan that you came up with sounds good.  How is it working for you?

If you want to try Dukan, there are people on 3fatchicks that are doing it.  I was looking at the Ideal Protein diet over there and actually tried that, but using alternative products from the Bariatric websites.  Ideal Protein is low fat, low calorie and high protein.  I went directly to phase 2 which is two meals of lean protein/veggies and two meals of protein supplements.  I did drop 5 pounds the first week.  I've been eating more carbs so I'm ready to reduce them again and try to get the next 5 pounds off.   That's what brought me back here to see how everyone is doing.
