Do all grains cause carb cravings?

As I search web sites for recipies, I find myself afraid to try some because I don't want to let the carb monster back in.  I know white and wheat flour, pasta, rice and potatoes, are things I can not try even in moderation.  Would things like whole oats or flax seed cause the same reaction for people?

The whole grains and socalled "good" carbs cause gravings for me.  Its no different than if i eat white carbs.  Except for ground flax seed, all carbs have the potential to unleash my inner carb monster.  I believe the reason I do not have the same issue with flax seed is because I use it in small amounts blended with protein powder.  Its not nearly the quantity I would consume with perhaps brown rice or quinoa etc.

Most starches do give me carbs cravings and most of them do cause in my RH.
But not the carbs in seeds and nuts - that includes all nuts, sesame flax, chia and sunflower seeds - these do not cause any trouble for me. I still like them and eat them.

Quinoa - in very limited qty - I can tolerate just fine.
But even carrots, beets, beans , etc - are a no-no for me.

Thank you
Thats what I was afraid of.  I really miss oatmeal in the winter, and granola for my yogurt, but if I can't find a carbfree alternative I will have to skip it.  I'm not willing to unleash the carb beast at this point because I'm  doing to well to slip on carbs again.

You may try to find quinoa breakfast flakes... Then mix them with some flax meal (1 Tbs).  Not only these may satisfy your "hunger" fro hot cereal - but will also provide some proteins and fiber.

If you do soy ... I recently went back to a hippy stape from my early years - Textured Vegetable Protein, AKA TVP and available from Bob's Red Mill (I think in an organic version).

I cook up a batch of this stuff every so often and keep it in the fridge, then heat up a bit in the morning with some almond milk, cinnamon and splenda - and it is a very good sub for oatmeal. It has a fair bit of protein, which you might boost with a bit of protein powder, and is very filling and low cal. I have NO problem with craving carbs after eating it (unlike a serving of oats, which I had missed!)

I have also used a recipe from about.com, which sounds weird but is VERY good in the morning: it is made with canned pumplin, ricotta and egg - and I add a lot of cinnamon and some nutmeg. Also filling and it fits in well with my eating plan. (Also, I think pumpkin is an Atkins approved veg for most phases.)

Within the past 2 weeks, I've added in steel cut oat-oatmeal back into my diet. And yes...I believe it has caused me to crave carbs like a mad woman!!

Thank God, I am recognizing this now b/c I could easily go overboard with this. I've gained 2 lbs....seriously!

I am definitely lookiing into quinoa flakes. Sheesh...who would have thought that unsweetend oats could cause such cravings!
