I wonder if anyone has any experience of this diet.  It appears to be a varient of Atkins, but low fat.  I won't be able to read replies until Monday, but any thoughts welcomed!

Interesting. I like the idea of a low fat diet.  And the fiber - we need fiber.
I think my diet right now is a modified Atkins diet.
It is lower in fat that a typical Atkins - since too much fat makes me sick.
And I do try to get a lot of fiber - but I like the flax meal - for the fiber and the good fats
and I try to stay away from starches. My carbs of choice are veggies and fruits.  Low carb veggies.. (non starchy). and low glycemic index fruits.

Need to check the Dukan diet... like the principles...

Thanks for the reply, I don't think the Dukan Diet is for me as it's the fat that keeps me full and happy!  Still, it was worth a look!

I looked at it awhile back and I like it but have never tried it.  However, I think I would like it.  Fats are not my thing as I don't like the taste of many fats but it contradicts some of my "diet" research.  A certain amount of fat is required to burn off fat in the abscence of carbs.  This is why fat is not heavily restricted on Atkins.  How much fat is enough I don't know.

In my own experiment on ketogenic diets, raising my fats to 50% of calories made a real difference in my weight loss.  My body is stubborn and does not like to give up the fat but this worked.  Sadly I could not keep it going because of the taste.  (I'm probably the only obese person who actually likes lower fat eating.)  That's why I have not tried Dukan.

Like Hala I monitor my fats and use flax meal.  Plus I take a fiber supplement unless I'm eating foods like konjac yam noodles.  I like to get three times the dosage for benefiber daily.  I'd never get sufficient fiber from food een if I were dot eating low carb.

I've been taking flax seeds since my vsg.  I don't think Dukan is for me, but thanks for the comments.

Paul, sorry it took me so long to respond.  The Dukah diet is essentially the Stillman diet from the 1970s.

There are problems with going both low carb and low fat.  The people who do it tend not to feel well, and there are other problems.  Research Stillman, and see what you find, I guess!

Thanks for that.  I went onto the Dukan website and put in my weight history.  Apparently , at 15 stone and 12 pounds I.m at my 'ideal' weight and shouldn't try to lose any more!  I really must ignore my GP and bring my carbs down to 20 grams a day...
