KILL THE CARB MONSTER, HOW DO YOU DO IT?

What do you do when you crave carbs?  How do you rid yourself of the urge to eat and perhaps overeat the 'naughty' foods?

I tried a promising diet plan that included more carbs, be it good carbs, than I normally would eat.  Now I've opened a door that is tough to close.  Moreover, I could not stick with it because the carbs spurred my appetite and I was forever hungry.

Unlike a day off from low carbing the cravings are not going away.  I'm afraid to go to the store for fear of losing it in the junk food ailse.  I'm pushing the dense protein and a few 'good' carbs as I ween myself off of them.  How have you tackled this problem?

I'm so sorry you're in this fix.  Probably every one of us has been there before -- at least once.

So, to respond to the concrete issues --
1)  remove all the demons from the household.  All of them. Including the ones you think you won't eat.
2)  Go back and check that you really did remove the carb offenders.
3)  ORDER YOUR FOOD DELIVERED if you can.
4) pack your meals and snacks a day or two in advance, if possible
5)  be generous with yourself and eat low-carb things you really love
6)  when in doubt, go for the really high fat choices for a couple of days until you switch over to burning fat instead of glycogen -- probably about three days

Good luck!

It's nice to have you posting here again, btw!

Thanks for the ideas.  As a rule I only keep protein and veg around the house.  Foods from outside are the problem.  If I would just stick to what's on hand I'd be fine.

One day at a time.  Big sigh.  Perhaps I should shut myself off fom the world.  Cravings are pulling me away from my own pantry.   God give me strength.

I am dealing with that right now. It is so hard... But next few days I plan to do it.
For me - the worse is day 2. Day 1 my body has enough glycogen stored so it is giving me an OK>.. but the second and third day? I want to chew my arm or... drink wine...
Hope this time, again as I did so many times, I can give up carbs for a few days...
For me there are no "good carbs" unfortunately.  My body wants them if - when I start eating them.

I'm with you on the no such thing as good carbs.  It was simple 'healthy' brown rice that spurred these cravings.

I'm in the same boat of having started to let myself have more carbs and now I want them all the time. I have gained about 5 lbs from a 55lbs loss. I know I have to stop it now before it gets out of control. I pray that I can.

You can loose that five and you will.  Its hard but we both will get carb control again.  My best rule is NEVER to buy a larger size.  If clothes get tight I must do without.  Even if my carbs are not straight, having nothing to wear forces me to watch the weight gain.

MSW....I too have fallen off the band wagon...with steel cut plain oatmeal!!
I cannot begin to describe the carb cravings I've had! Sadly, I've caved into them....
Thank God, that I've only gained 2 lbs in 2 weeks.

It is SO hard to go back to such a low amount of carbs....but in order to lose weight and keep the carb monster at bay...it is a necessary thing.
One thing that I've liked during my higher carb weeks is that I do not have 'brain farts' like I had been when I did 20-35 carbs a day.  I wonder why?
Oh well, WE CAN DO THIS!
I'm cleaning out my pantry of ALL carbness....yes including my beloved oatmeal.... *sigh*
