Atkins and Low Carb Weight Loss
New to group; have 5 pounds to get back off and would like to make it 10
Yeah, ok, I know someone may be groaning that 5 pounds isn't a lot to lose, but I have a 5-pound "swing" that I allow myself under my "normal" eating and water-weight fluctuation. I only weigh once a week and when I ahve been at (or above) that 5-pound mark, I increase the protein and drop ALL of the simple carbs until the weight drops back down. But then, of course, I let the simple carbs creep back in and 6 months down the road I have to do it all over again... which just seems ridiculous. I'm hoping that I can permanently get rid of many of the carbs and not have to do this 5-pound yo-yo thing. Also, although I got down to my goal weight, my goal was somewhat conservative (based on my age, muscular thighs, and always big boobs) and I really WANTED to get down 5 pounds lower... so I'm hoping that by eliminating more carbs I just MIGHT be able to make that happen.
This is probably the WORST possible week of the year for me (emotionally) to try to implement a change in my eating, but I'm going to try anyway.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Carb Creep -- It's the worst!
Lora, why is this one of the worst weeks of the year for you? Mind my asking?

Interested in low-carb nutrition? Thinking of trying Atkins? Want to try high-fat and/or high-protein eating? Whether or not you have had (or are thinking about) WLS http://www.obesityhelp.com/group/atkins/
No, I don't mind... I'm a pretty open, straighforward person (raised by an ex- Marine). I was violently raped a number of years ago and the 26th is the "anniversary" of the rape. Although it has gotten better over the years, my anxiety level is elevated the last half of April every year, and then the week right before the anniversary is pretty intense.
