hi to all, well i am 29and i have 3 kiddos! i have a wonderful husband that would do anything for me.  I am getting ready for a gastric bypass and i have lost almost 10lbs since january. i wanted to know how i can do the adkins diet and still meet the criteria that the NUT has given me. I have done the atkins before and i had a little bit of a hard time with the carb thing.  when i did it before i only counted carbs, sugar and fiber. I was told by someone who was helping me that i could eat what ever i wanted as long as i stayed 20 carbs or less and i have atleast 2 cups of veggies at day. I alrdy pay somewhat attention to sugar, as I am pre diabetic alrdy and i eat the dreamfields pasta. the only problem is portion control.  also i lost some weight on adkins and felt great. ( and that was only 2 weeks). I would really like some insight because i love meat and eggs and would like to jumpstart my weightloss even more. Maybe some suggestions would help? im just so confused.

My best suggestion is to go to the stickies up above on the main low carb page here and they have all kinds of info on low carb diets. Also Atkins.com has a whole bunch of recipes and explains the program.

Journaling really helps.  Some days while i thought I was low carbs - and start adding up and realized that was not low enough...
The journaling (write down everything you eat ) really helps to be aware of what and how much you are getting...

Good luck...

Welcome aboard!!!

Check out the sticky links at the top of the discussions page, there's a lot of good information there.

I'd start with the proteins -- Getting enough protein tends to help us stay healthy, and get enough satiety in our eating plan to help us stay away from carbs.

Good luck!

My one suggestion is to stick to natural foods.  So meats, dairy, veggies, eggs and fats.  No processed foods.

I find I lose best when I adhere to this advice.
