Atkins and Low Carb Weight Loss
Digusted with weight gain on Atkins
I would definitly cut down on the cheese and up the solid meat/fish type protein. Salami is also loaded with salt. I love cheese, but it is very salty and that alone will interfere with WL.
I am not a big fan of fake food, ie protein bars and protein drinks. I think the nutrition you get from those is inferior to healthy, real, whole foods. I think of them as Weight loss junk food. I agree you sould up your veggie intake.
Try cutting the cheese consumption in half. Add more solid protein, cut back on bars and shakes and try to eat more veggies. I would also have 6 small meals a day. Your pouch (I hate that word) will tolerated veggies in small doses throughout the day.
Good luck

Hi Phyllis!
I probably picked the wrong day's menu to post as a "typical" day. I don't eat salami or lunch meats every day as I know they are SO high in sodium. I know tha****er retention will definitely lead to depressing results on the scale. I do eat 5 small "meals" a day (I posted my food as a list, not broken up into meals, just to make it easier to type).
As far as protein shakes, most gastric bypass post-ops do supplement with one or more shakes a day as we have the lifelong malabsorption to deal with. VitaLady who posts here on OH supplements with as much six shakes a day at over 15 years post-op. Also, many of us RNYers wake up feeling nauseous in the morning, so a protein shake is a good way to begin the day and then eat solid food later on.
Unfortunately, I also spend over two hours a day in the car commuting and need to eat something in the car. I also have to eat one of my meals at my desk at work, and we are not permitted to eat anything big or that "smells"; hence, the Atkins bar. I do agree that whole food is a much superior form of protein. During the week, I do the best I can. On the weekends, I am able to eat a "cleaner" diet of more fish and poultry and occasionally beef.
Thanks for your input! Much appreciated.

You've gotten excellent advice from everyone else so I'll just throw in my 2 cents that I learned for myself anyway. I found I have to go even lower in carbs than the induction allows, myself I have to go 15 or less grams a day of carbs. I've even done days with no carbs and this is when I lose best, when I do less than 15. Guess I'm just very sensitive to them. Anyway you might try that several days a week and see if it helps. Also I would suggest you allow yourself a 5-10 lb varience in weight that way you don't obsess about a pound or two but you can catch it before it goes too far. Go with where you look and feel best, don't be a slave to numbers it'll make ya crazy!
i know this is an old post but i will just share my experience. Try limiting the artificial sweetners, which would include the atkin bars. I love splenda but it definitely keeps me from losing. it will actually take me out of ketosis according to the keto strips. i try to stick to stevia. you may need to treat the atkin bars like a dessert. they are better to eat than a snickers bar but you may need to limit your consumption. i am just getting back to true low carbing after significant weight gain. i can tell you that my weight always stalled when i added an atkins bar. i saved those for times when i felt like i just had to taste something sweet.
