I haven't been here for a little while now, because i haven't been sticking to the LOW CARB theme of things AT ALL..!!

I have been under sooo much stress with my Grandmother being sooo ill.. and my mom being soooo upset...I have been to and fro, here and there, trying to help my mom out as much as possible and I'm telling you it has been VERY STRSSFUL...I'm eating whatever Ican pick up quickly and easily...LOW CARB has not been a part of my life I'm sad to say..

My Grandmother's Dr. says the next 48 hours will tell us alot where everything stands with her care...My Mom is falling to pieces as she is the one that HAS to make the tough decisions...This in turn has affected me in more ways than one...

I got on the scale and have gained 4 pounds..I AM DEVISTATED TO SAY THE LEAST...!!
Thing is...I know the next week or 2 is going to be even more Stressful...!!
I DO NOT WANT TO GAIN ANYMORE WEIGHT BACK...AND NOW, I HAVE FOUR MORE POUNDS TO GET OFF AGAIN...!!

PLEASE KEEP US IN YOUR THOUGHTS AND IF YOU PRAY FOR PEACE IN MY MOMS MIND, AND PRAY I CAN STOP THIS ROLLERCOASTER RIDE I'M ON...!!

THANKS EVERYONE...

Oh my goodness, you've been under so much stress.  I'm so sorry that things are so tough right now.

Come up with a plan, whatever that is so that you feel good about your eating.  Can you eat a good breakfast in the morning and pack a sack of things like string cheese, babybell cheese, maybe some turkey jerky.  Anything that you like that's a good grab and go so that you're not at a vending machine or bakery.  Take it one meal at a time.

The four pounds will come off.  Please don't set yourself up to assume that you will gain more in the next two stressful weeks.  Think about what you can do to succeed.

In OA we had a saying... Fail to Plan, Plan to Fail.  I used that saying with dealing with the deaths of both my parents and found it very helpful.  Set your intention when you wake up in the morning.

Sending hugs your way!

I am so sorry to hear about your grandmother, and also about your mom fretting.  It is a terrible thing when dear family members fall ill, and being a caretaker to both generations is indeed a huge stress.

Listen, just the stress alone can drive up a scale's reading.  And if you're eating on the go, it is very hard to make more healthful choices because quite often, the appropriate foods are absolutely nowhere to be found.

However, keep in mind that you will probably feel better yourself, and a little more even emotionally (to the extent it's possible) if you are able to at least approach a lower-carb plan.  Can you pack string cheese in your purse?  Protein drinks?  Protein bars?  Even nuts, for snack?

I'm not trying to tell you what to do, just offering suggestions so that your body and mind will feel less stress as you go through all of this.

Please, please do post to us what you are eating -- Don't stop coming by, we are not here to judge but to support.  There are many people here who have been through something similar at one time or another, and would love to lend a hand or some emotional support!

Good Morning,

I'm just checking back to see if you updated us on how you're doing.  Lisa is right, this group is really a safe zone with no judgements.  We all handle stress and every other emotion, differently.  I can't imagine what it's like in "your shoes", but I can definitely have compassion for what you're going through.  I hope you'll let us know how you're doing.

Sending hugs your way and prayers for your family.

OT:  Lee, thanks for making me look at the nut bars nutritional values.  (the one from Costco) They are good, and one does not upset my RH, but overall they have too many carbs... so now - if I want some - or need some food while driving - I may have 1/2 and save the other half for another day.
In the past there were days that I may have 2 per day.  Plus other foods.  No wonder i put on the extra 5-7 lbs.
This board is great to make us look more critically at the numbers.

BTW: the other thing I always get from Costco is the canned chicken breast.  Check that out - if you have not yet.

Things are the same..My Gram keeps hanging on..She will be 97 this March 16th. She has been A STRONG influence in my life...

I have lost the four pounds I gained..must have been water, but I also lost an extra two...Who Knows..STRESS can play a huge part in weight flucs.

I'm still going back and forth to the hospital, but I'm trying to do better with my eating...Carrying snacks that are friendly...It may be the stress and boredom, but I find myself looking at the sweets in the vending machine and after I stand there a min. are two...I see I have left a puddle of drool on the floor...=) but I have managed to walk away and just leave the evidence that I was there fighting a temptation battle..LOL

Thanks for your concern...that means more than you know..!

Thanks for checking in Cyndy.  It sounds like you have a lot going on, but that you are definitely in a better place of taking care of yourself since your last report.  Bravo and congratulations on not caving to that darn vending machine!!
