Atkins and Low Carb Weight Loss
PRODUCTS Thread: Low-Carb Yummies
Based on my dear friend Jan's experience of living in TN, I'm going to guess there aren't a large number of small markets catering to diverse ethnic groups, where you live. So ... you MIGHT find it at your local grocery store in a section that carries refrigerated Asian foods, OR ... you might decide to order it online from a purveyor such as amazon.com.
Shirataki noodles truly are nifty, and franklky now that I've been eating them for several months, I quite prefer them to regular pasta. They do NOT get soggy or mush, and they are only ever al dente. And hardly any carbs? Perfect!!!!

Interested in low-carb nutrition? Thinking of trying Atkins? Want to try high-fat and/or high-protein eating? Whether or not you have had (or are thinking about) WLS http://www.obesityhelp.com/group/atkins/
Sugar-free, fat-free, dairy-free, everything-free, CALORIE-FREE chocolate syrup! Sweetened with Sucralose, so it doesn't have any or those problematic sugar-alcohols, either!
NOT a naturally occurring product. Okay, it does NOT taste good by the spoonful the way Hershey's does. BUT ... if you need a dollop of chocolate in your coffee, I definitely recommend this stuff (available in the kosher section of your grocery store, especially in the spring, or online at various retailers):

I read about this product and immediately searched for the best price so that I could try it. What intrigued me is that you can just eat it straight from the jar if you want to, which is what I did. i got the chocolate flavor, but I'm thinking that the natural might be good for adding to salads etc. Today I'm taking a baggie of it to work to see how I really like it straight from the bag. The consistency is like Grape Nuts. Tiny pellets of gravel but chocolate flavored and crunchy. I'm going to add it to my protein pudding this morning. I'll let you know how I like it.
Reviews say people bake with it. I'm going to try a flax seed muffin and see how it is.
Vitacost.com has the best price with free shipping over $49. They always have great prices on vitamins too. If it's under $49 it's $4,95 shipping. GNC just started carrying it but it's so much more expensive.

I thought of using it for the same thing. They are a little dusty/dry tasting. Yesterday I took a scoop which is 1 ounce, 20 protein and added a little Almond Breeze to the bowl. I really felt like I was eating Oreo's. It's been a year since I've had anything sugar/processed/packaged etc so it's probably just my taste buds, but it works for me!

I used to make vegan sushi. Last time I was in Japan I picked up a sushi roller. I haven't done it since WLS but I think it's time to start again. Great idea!
I've been eating the Seaweed Snacks from Trader Joe's. An entire package is 60 calories and 2 carbs so it's a great low carb treat and the package is huge. I put chicken salad on it one day.

I love them. But I found that that I am allergic to Splenda so... I have to give up on them. But I still use the natural. I add them to my flour free bater - and make crunchy cookies. LOL.. (I use stevia)

low carb - but tastes like candy - and no splenda or sugar alcohols:
Power Crunch Protein Bars.
Most of them have net 9 gr of carbs per bar, 5 gr sugar and 13-15 gr of proteins. 200 calories.
It is a great substitution when I want a candy bar.. .
