OMG I fell off the wagon...

....and I hit the ground hard!
I feel like an absolute failure!
Okay, for some strange and odd reason I had an OVERWHELMING craving for cake...of all things! I have not craved sweets in a loooong time! I have been doing SO well on Atkins!!
The bad part...is I gave in and ate 4 bites of cake *half a slice*...and I feel terrible!

I cannot describe how ashamed I am...how gross I feel. It feels like a lump of lard in my pouch...

I asked myself, "Amy, why did you do this?!" And when it came down to it, all I could think about was..."I wanted it..."  Yes, I have some stress in my life....but I don't feel that I ate out of stress...or boredom.....or anger or depression.

Argghhhh.... I'm so upset with myself....

Anyone have any advice or words of encouragement??

Thanks....

{{Hugs}} You didn't fail!!!

Sometimes I think we have an out of body experience and stuff like this happens. I know for me, when I look at why I've done something similar, it's as if I'm a child who isn't going to be happy until she gets her way. I'm not saying this is you but it's my truth and I have to be aware of my feelings and thoughts and bratty little Jean inside!

If you have any of that cake left around just dump it and pour coffee grounds or hot sauce or dog food on it. Four bites, one time, you can climb back onto the wagon...make your next bite of food nutritious and on plan.

Good luck...

 Hi there!

Four bites of chocolate cake is NOT "hitting the ground hard" .... REALLY.

Four bites of chocolate cake is probably no more than 20 carbs, tops.  You might not feel really good right now, but do try to log it in and see what the total damage REALLY is before kicking yourself too hard!

Tomorrow's another day!  Great thing about low-carbing is, you can reverse the damage with your very next bite!  You didn't really fall so far off the wagon, and you should have no problem righting yourself again, I'm s ure!

hugs!

Lisa

Take a deep breath and forgive yourself.  If we never fell off the wagon, we would not have had surgery in the first place.  WLS operated on our stomach, not on our mind and occasionally we slip into old behaviour.  Good on ya for recognizing that this is not how you want your journey to look.

Learn from it and let it go.  Your tummy is punishing you enough with that lardy feeling.  You deserve to treat yourself with kindness regardless of great or poor choices.

You didn't fall off the wagon you just hit a bump but your still on. It's not realistic to think that you will never again have sweets. I know you feel bad but it's really minor and not a fatal mistake...learn from it and keep going. (((((HUGS))) It's hard I had a bad day yesterday but today was much better!!! Keep up the good work!!!!

Thank you, everyone, for the replies.

It scares me to death when I think about all of the people that gain back a lot of weight after any WLS procedure....because it could happen to any one of us at any time

I know its going to be a daily battle with some days easier than others....thank you for the encouragement, it means a lot to me.

(hugs)

Use the information you gain from this experience as you climb back on the wagon and leave it behind you.  Make a note of how your body reacts to the sugar and then decide if its really worth any set back.   We will slip at times.  We just have to keep slipping from becomming our new standard.
