Atkins and Low Carb Weight Loss
Emotional Eating Yesterday
Good Morning Team,
I just want to start out my day saying that I had a really tough time of it with the food yesterday. I posted in the CAR thread that I was having protein pudding for dinner. I was really bingy and ended up having 2-3 ounces of smokehouse almonds instead. I think this was my first out of control eating in 11 months and it scared me. I woke up this morning up 2 ounces on my scale but my eyes are puffy and droopy. I definitely need to detox the sodium today.
I'm more concerned with the behaviour than by what I ate. I didn't go for flour or sugar, but it was definitely hand to mouth action. Maybe I was bummed that my date cancelled, maybe I didn't plan enough activities for the day. Who knows, but it felt like old behaviour to me and it scared me.
For today, I have a full day planned and I'll keep myself accountable and mindful about what I put into my mouth and why.
I'm definitely not buying nuts again for a long time!
Thanks for listening!

*squeeze*
I sure can dig the issue of it being the behavior and not the how much I ate thing, or that the binge consisted of legalish foods.
I have had to toss the rest of the box of the chocolate dusted almonds, or even the newly opened and unopened jars of the peanut butter, cuz I was spinning out of control.
Sorry for your puffy eyes and if you have the weenie fingers!
Whatever the reason, hooray for more signs that you do have guardrails in place, and you recognize your behavior and you are noting it for what its worth, and not justifying it or blowing it off, and making different plans.
woof..

HoundMama, I adore you. I wish I was a songwriter because you'd be on the top 10 when I got done writing about you!
I'm so grateful for my 12 step years in OA because they really taught me how to look at what I'm doing with an honest eye instead of denial. I also have to say it out loud, kinda like telling on myself so that I'm not keeping secrets of eating in the closet etc.
I think I was just dang hungry yesterday and kept eating. What I've decided is that until my body gets back into ketosis, I'm going to stick to protein with a little dairy and not worry about calories if I'm only eating until satisfied. I know that once I'm deeper in Ketosis, I won't be so hungry and craving foods like nuts. I could have crunched on Celery but I don't think about that when I'm eating for the wrong reasons.
No wienie fingers, just puffy eyes.
Good on ya for dumping the nuts and PB!!
Thanks for letting me be honest!
smooches to ya!
Edit: I wonder how much of the hunger was from taking less Protonix this week? I didn't take it Friday night or Saturday. Hard to say!

I think its really helpful for other folks to see too, that the admission of the BEHAVIOR being the issue and not justifying the "what" or the "how much" really is, for some of us the issue. (Or maybe that's how I justify not shutting up about it :} )
Oooh.. good on you for pondering the Protonix! From my layman experiment I found out that quite a few folks (my girlfriend Sandy, and mz Laura too) get RAVENOUS when they cut down/stop the Prilosec.
And I will dance to your catchy tune whether anyone else does or not! :}
Hey! I got smokehouse and worchestershire PEPPER!! I eat it on EVATHING!! Maybe that will take care of your smokey jones?

Yeah oh the behaviour because I know it's not going to be what or how much but why I'm eating or feeling driven to stuff food in my mouth.
Ya know, that old familiar feeling. The thing about stuffing feelings is that sliders go down so easy that I could eat forever which is a terrifying thought. I guess that's how people put back 100 pounds after WLS, sliders sliders sliders.
Thanks for the tip about the pepper. For me it's more about the crunch. I always start missing the crunch when I'm on Atkins. I remember that from years gone by.
Thanks for caring and sharing mamacita!

I was totally out of control yesterday, I was eating every hour, and to rid my body of the junk, I took a laxative, I know that laxatives will not resolve the problem and it is a head problem, but Ii eat out of boredom and when my emotions are out of control.
So today has been good so far but I have to take it minute by minute. I went to spin class this morning and that is a plus and have my meal planned today.

I'm sorry you had one of "those" days yesterday! Do you have any ideas about what was driving you towards the food? Whatever it is, I'm sorry it made it tough on ya.
Minute by minute is good. Having a plan is the best and kudos to you for getting to a spin class this morning!
Keep writing as much as you can to help yourself stay outa the food.
I'm off for a day with a girlfriend to go play.

Virtly -- the use of laxatives is a red-flag, as far as I'm concerned.
Please do not be offended by my bringing this up, but you should be concerned! First of all, carbohydrates are absorbed rather quickly, and taking laxatives will NOT either get rid of them, or prevent their impact. All it does it make you poop faster, and lead to other problems.
This is also a very, VERRRRYYYYYY slippery slope in terms of weight-control behavior. It may not seem like it now, but one thing leads to another, and you don't want to wind up with more profound eating problems.
Laxatives, in general, are not a good idea. Laxatives do NOT help you gain control of your eating any more than vomiting does. We are adults here, and we can accept responsibility and consequences for our behavior -- Please, please do not use laxatives or vomiting to manage your intake!
It is not terrible to "fall off the wagon" now and then. The point is to develop a healthy way of eating. ALL people eventually eat something that is not optimally healthful -- the point is to pick yourself up off the wrong path, and simply head in the right direction again.
(stepping off of my soapbox)
