 Hi Lora,

Welcome.  I'm so sorry about your band failure.  I think there is a sticky at the top of the page that has links to various low carb plans.

I would suggest getting the free version of myfitnesspal. com where you can track the food that you eat.  In doing that, you can see the calories, carbs and protein that you're eating.  Everyone aims for a different level of carbs.  You will need to determine which plan you'd like to do, then get guidance from that source.  I like Atkins and I started Atkins Induction (20 carbs or less) a week ago Monday.  I will do that for awhile.

You might like to check out Atkins, South Beach, Zone or other plans.  There's lots of information on the internet about all of those plans.

We have a daily CAR (carb accountability report) where we can check in with our food.  i would highly suggest that.

Please ask questions and we'll try to answer them.  Today just happens to be a very quiet day in this group.

Lora, I'm so sorry about your disappointment with the band.  For what it's worth, there are a lot of people here, learning a low-carb way of eating (WOE) who have had SUCCESSFUL surgeries, so you might have wound up here anyway (and we feel lucky to have you).

You got some good advice, above --  The "start here" sticky at the top of the discussion list has some great links to get you started.  Atkins seems to be popular, but there are many other extremely effective lower-carb plans, including paleo/cave-man, zone, south beach, and others.  If you re-post the ones you think might be of interest, there are helpful folks here who can help steer you in the right direction.

Best of luck!  Please come back and let us know how things are going!

Welcome and so sorry about your band issues.  There is a site that sumarizes popular low carb diets.  I'll check the references sticky and if its not already there, I'll add it.

Again, welcome.  I hope you find low carb is right for you.

Per my initial reply, I've added a link to summaries of various low carb plans.  Each plan is listed individually on the getting stareted info sticky post.  This is the website they link to.
