Travel foods needed

I am going to be traveling next week and need some ideas for transportable foods.  I will be heading to the airport at 5:00 a.m. (yuck) for an early flight, so need something I can take for breakfast.  Then I'll need to have something for lunch that day as well--something I can carry in my purse.  I will take some nuts and Atkins bars for snacks but don't find them satisfying for a meal.

Oh, and I do not like cheese.  And as the trip is just a day and a half, I'm only taking a large purse for luggage, so space is limited.

Any suggestions?

Honestly, when I travel, I usually just eat out. I get breakfast sadwiches and ditch whatever kind of bread they come on, or grilled chicken sandwiches or cheeseburgers from fast food places and ditch the buns, or a grilled chicken caesar salad, no croutons. At any real restaurat, I'll order protein and non-starchy veggies or a big salad with lots of protein toppings and just eat the toppings (chicken or steak or tuna, egg, bacon, things like that).

And, yes, the bars and nuts for snacks are good.

I travel with hormel pepperoni stix and sometimes babybel light, 0 carbs each.   The cheese travels fine for a day or two even in warm weather and the pepperoni needs no refrigeration.

If there is a Krystal at the airport, they have a breakfast in a cup.  Just hold the carbs and its bacon, eggs and cheese.

I like beef and chicken jerky nuggets too but the sugars are pretty high.  Too much for induction.

If your airport has a mexican restaurant, I'd get a breakfast wrap of scrambled eggs and meat, then dump the wrap.  Just think of it as something to keep your eggs warm for you.

Or else, what about making those little muffin tin quiches that could hold you for both breakfast and lunch on the plane.  That way you could put whatever you want inside.  They're not bad at room temp.

Cook up some bacon at night, then in the morning micro for 1 minute and put in a baggie.  I do that for my office breakfast.

I'd make pot roast and fill a couple of containers.  The gravy would keep it moist and it wouldn't congeal if you warm it before you leave in the morning.

I'll eat anything for any meal so I'd just take dinner leftovers for breakfast in a container with a fork.

If you want a sandwich, make the oopsie rolls and take them to stuff with meat on the plane.

Keep it simple and you can't go wrong!  You can do this. :)

Thanks for the suggestions.  I don't remember what the Omaha airport has for food vendors.  And I hate paying what restaurants want for breakfasts.  I was at one hotel that charged $13 for two eggs!

Sally,  they're all expensive but look at the lengths you've gone through for a healthier body.  I would think of it as a way to pamper and take care of myself to have a warm breakfast if that's what I wanted.  You have the other 364 days of the year to worry about the price of eggs, unless of course it would be a financial hardship.  If that's the case, then I apologize for my comment as it might seem rude and unthoughtful.
