Friday
I'm still feeling the sweet and salty foods. Sugar alcohols comprise most of my carbs. Net carbs are holding where I want them, ratios a little low on the fats. This week's focus was get off the naughty carbs. Moving on to induction over the weekend. Pushing for ketosis.
* Fried chicken, avocado, mocha with unsweetened almond milk, diet soda
* Fried chicken, popsicle, mocha with unsweetened almond milk, diet soda
* Roasted chicken, creamsicle, fudgesicle, protein bar
* Fried chicken, creamsicle, herbal tea, protein bar
Fat(g) | Carbs(g) | Net C(g) | Prot(g) | KCals |
71.72 | 80.71 | 24.84 | 119.15 | 1350 |

What program are you using to track your food that calculates your net carbs? I use The Daily Plate, but it just spits out total carbs, fiber, and sugar.
Wow - You all are keeping it pretty low.
coffee and half and half and some flavored creamer - 8
2 scrambled eggs and string cheese - 1
lean cuisine - 14 net
turkey
chicken, broccoli and 1/4 c wild rice - 14
ham, cream cheese, green chili roll up - 2
2 WW low sugar pecan crowns - 10
49 carbs today . . . I see my problem, now that I have written it down . . really need to commit and just go to induction phase
I do feel so much better not eating more carbs - teeth are whiter, etc.
Have a great one!

Most people here are doing Atkins but not all of us. I'm just trying to "get back to basics" and get my carbs around 75 or so. I started on New Year's Eve wanting to loose 3-6 lbs and I've lost 4 of them already!! So now I'm shooting for those last 2!
So keep on posting and let us know how you are doing!!!

It's funny you mention "teeth are whiter" - I've noticed my teeth feel so much cleaner without the carbs! No sugar or starch sticking to my teeth and getting all gross...
I have decided that Fridays will be my regular moderate-carb (as opposed to next-to-no-carb) day of the week.
Eggs and hollandaise
Greek yogurt with splenda
Coffee with evaporated milk
Then: Thai pumpkin, eggplant, and saitan (with RICE ... yummy chewy red rice whole grain) with salad.
And THEN ...
Egg bread (single piece)
Fish cakes (gefilte fish)
cabbage, carrots, eggplant, beet salads
Small serving of Noodle pudding
Green beans
Piece of potato and ....
Very small piece of chocolate cake!
So, my highest carb day in three weeks, but it was all stuff I really, really like and totally worth it! I would estimate that I had four servings of carbohydrates, two of them whole grain -- not too awful.
Tomorrow, will go back to "induction" to get the glycogen out of my system. Maybe a carb-rich day will shock me out of my temporary stall!

This higher carb day tossed into the mix is not a bad idea - it's the basis of a cyclical ketogenic diet, which works for many. Similarly, pre-op, I did well with calorie cycling as well. I think cycling of carbs or calories helps to keep the body from falling into a pattern and not wanting to lose more weight because it's gotten so used to what you've been doing consistently.
Geez! Two days in a row of not posting til morning. I was up late last night painting a chalkboard for over my desk. Very cool!
Anyways.....here's what I ate:
B: two eggs, spinach, cheddar, butter
S: sweet and salty atkins bar
L: chicken, spinach, parmesan, mozzarella casserole
D: steak, salad, Italian dressing
S: One large handful of friggin potato chips (damn it!) and two spoonfuls of peanut butter
I really shouldn't beat myself up over the chips but I am. I'm eating sooo much better than I have been for the past few years and will try to focus on that. Good news - I got into a pair of old jeans yesterday!
