I agree with you and I am working on incorporating more veggies. When I eat dense protein I'm reminded pretty quickly how well my restriction works so it's an all day effort to work it in.

I am more concerned about the lack of protein that I am seeing in some posts. I thought that Atkins was a protein based plan but I am seeing some folks with very low protein.

It might be helpful also to know what day someone is on and when they plan to increase their carbs/protein.

I'm in a different spot than the others who post here because I had a different surgery. I only need to keep my carbs in the 50-75 range to loose weight and I only need to loose about 3 more lbs and then I will slowly increase my carbs.

I also take a massive amount of vitamins and monitor my labs carefully. I hope that folks who are doing this low low carb and low calorie ~ low protein are supplementing vitamins and watching their labs.

Per my surgeon: weight in pounds / 2.2 = protein needs in grams.  This is what I live by.  I don't know his guidelines for surgeries other than rny since we have different books.

My surgeon's people told me I needed 76 grams of protein. But I go by the wisdom on the DS forum which is over 100. When I am in maintenance mode I get close to 200 grams of protein and my protein related labs are good.

I really worry about what people are doing to themselves who are getting almost no protein. If they aren't going to eat it they need to supplement it with low carb protein shakes.

I'm not following Atkins specifically, just low carb, high fat. In general, people eat veggies for vitamins and fiber. If you're getting those things elsewhere (like all of our supplements), then I don't see the harm. Personally, I only actually like very few veggies, so eating lots of veggies would put a major damper on my food variety.

Okey dokey, here's what I've eaten today...

B - plain Fage w/stevia & instant coffee, 2 cups coffee with half & half (13)
S - string cheese (0)
L - 1/2 chicken breast w/Italian style peppers, slice of Havarti cheese, side salad w/ranch (5)
S - Atkins bar (3), spicy pork rinds (0)
D - Ate at Chili's - burger patty w/swiss & 1/4 avocado, broccoli (4)

That's a grand total of 25!

Have a good evening :)
