****Monday Carb Accountability Roundup****

I started my carb counting on New Year's Eve and this morning my scale rewarded me with a 1 1/2 lb loss. I love my DS!!! (I gained 6 lbs between Halloween and then and my goal is to loose 3-4 of those pounds.)

I went shopping today for even more protein and low carb goodies and cleaned out some carbs from the house.

Today's eats:

bacon and fried cheese (4)
Protein shake (11)
2 baby bell cheeses (0)
2 string cheeses (2)
Fried chicken thighs (30)
Atkins bar (3)
Dark chocolate (10)

Dinner is shrimp ****tail with ****tail sauce (10)
and steak wrapped in bacon

I bought Breyers Carb Smart ice cream (8) so we'll see how that does. I threw out the Lactaid Ice Cream as it was giving me gas anyway and had too many carbs.

So my total for the day should wind up around 80 which is where I need to be to be loosing weight.

I hope you all had a fantastic low carb Monday! I look forward to reading about your day.

double protein drink - 2

Your carbs are low but so is your protein. How much protein do you shoot for? We DSers have to get well over 100.

I usually measure it by the number of protein shakes a day I get in - not necessarily how much protein I get from food.

I will get at least 2 protein drinks a day - and am now shooting for 4.  Each scoop has 23g of protein - so that would be 91 if I get it all in.  Any food is just a bonus and I concentrate on high protein foods - mainly because they help keep me filled up too.

My carbs will end up being 68 for the day - which is high for me.  I'm shooting for 30 during this phase.  I need to eliminate the whole wheat tortilla and atkins bar - but I just wanted some CRUNCH!  LOL...

We need to start a thread on crunchy low carb ideas. I could use some of those ideas too.

Crunch ideas: pork rinds, cheese chips (cheddar and parmesan work best), pepperoni chips, celery (with peanut butter or cream cheese or salsa or guacamole), almonds (LOTS of different flavors available nowadays)...

Thanks Jilly. I used to make cheese chips but they always turned out to be cheese chewies instead of crunchies lol. I love almonds too but they aren't really that low in carbs (when you eat as many of them as I do anyway!)

I have some pork rinds that I am going to eat with my chili tonight. I like to have crunchies in my chili but I resisted the corn chips.

Yeah, I find the parmesan cheese makes a much crispier chip than other cheeses. When I use cheddar or jack or whatever, I usually refer to them as "cheese jerky"  :)

Almonds are 6g total carbs per serving, half of which is fiber (so . I eat 2 servings at a time. I NEVER sit down with the whole container - I measure out servings into individual containers or baggies so I don't have too many at a time.

I need to remember to look for pork rinds next time I'm at the store...

Ah, now see? I didn't know about the fiber in the almonds. I actually tried to figure out how to measure a serving of them but they go by ounces and I don't have a scale. I pretty much ate unlimited almonds when I was loosing the weight but am trying now to count these carbs so I didn't know what to do about measuring them.

Good for you, 1 1/2 lbs is great!

Here's my food today:

7oz 2% Fage plain w/stevia (8)
Atkins shake (2)
chicken breast (0)
coffee w/half & half (8)

I'll might have a protein bar when I get home from work and then dinner will either be shrimp stir fry or chicken & brussel sprouts. Either way, it'll be tasty :)

Have a great day!
