My name is Dee, 61 years old, 5'1".  I have been on just about every diet created and taken every pill I could find.   I have dieted even when I did not need to diet because  I always saw myself as heavy.  In September 2008 I gave myself the gift of the VSG.  Best thing I have ever done.  I quickly went from 208 lbs to 128 lbs and held there until this past year.  From Thanksgiving thru New Years I gave myself permission to eat anything and everything I had ever wanted to eat through the holidays but never had been able to do.  It was a wonderful 2 months of eating joy but also a very big mistake.  I foolishly thought it would just come right back off like it did in the beginning.....WRONG.  It is a struggle now.  Since my surgery I have follow the Somersize plan with the food combining.  I am still do this but since it is so similar to the Atkins plan, I was thrilled to find this group.  I enjoy reading your menus and getting ideas and inspiration from you posts.  I look forward to being a part of this group.

Hi All

Haven't been on the site for a while.  I restarted my weight loss journey as of the Last week of  Jan 2011.  My weight at the time was 339 lbs... As of today down to 330 Lbs. After 13 months had an app. today with the Dr and had a fill.  Had the lap band in Dec 2005.. Did great for a while and went down to 268 lbs.  I was eating right and working out.  My hours at work was
2PM x 10PM . Mornings did my workout and everything was good. I changed my hours at work to 8am x 5pm.. I stopped working out and my diet went away. Started eating the wrong foods and the weight   came back.  Well I just got back on the 2pm x 10PM shift. I Just started going to the gym and already lost  9 lbs.

I have been doing a low calorie diet but was stuck at the 331-332 range for about 2 weeks. I changed up my diet a bit , started to eat more protein, less carbs and that helped get me to 330.

Hope now to stay on track and will officially weight in every Wednesday.

Would like to see what LC are eating?

Joe.

Start weight:339 Lbs   (Sept 07, 05)
Band date/weight= Dec 13, 05/ 320 lbs

Hi there, and welcome aboard!

Many of us post our daily menus (either planned or whatever happened) on the daily CARb Accountability Threads.  These are really great resources for people who are trying to figure out what a real low-carb way of eating looks like, in reality.

Please also check out our other "stickied" links -- We have recipes, recommended protein levels, trouble-shooting, general information .... and lots of friendly people who are knowledgeable and supp\otiv\.

Hi my name is Jeani i am 60 yrs old.  I had the sleeve surgery 9 months ago and have lost 70lbs.  I've been stuck for about the last 4 months,  first at 180 for a couple of months  now at 173 ish for the past couple of months.  I was a fat child,  then i lost all the weight.   Then when i was 34 my husband passed away and slowly but surely i crept up to 240.  I have arthritis and severe pain caused me to look into WLS.  Since the surgery my pain is almost non existant.   I have been in a stall because i got off track and ate pretty much whatever i thought i wanted (my bf of over 30 yrs died last November and i just went into a major funk).    I was playing around on youtube and saw some low carb videos,  then i logged onto atkins.com and have been researching and started atkins on monday.  Today is day 5 and this morning per my scale i have lost 4 lbs.   I'm very excited to lose this last 20-30lbs.  I just happened to see this board on a link in another post and thought i'd love to be able to talk to people that know something about this way of eating.  I'm a little confused,  people that i have talked to on here say do low carb but also do low fat,  but the literature on atkins says we need the fat :o(  any advice would be greatly appreciated.   :o)  jeani

I'm Kay and have been a carb addict for a very long time. If I could've gotten my head around the fact that I wasn't overweight at 140 lbs years ago, I wouldn't be where I am now. At 5'2.5", my high weight was 219 lbs. Insurance approved VSG and I am almost 7 mos out. I have been losing weight steadily using low carb as my guide. My calories probably avg between 800-1200, but I'm more concerned about low carb. I am very excited to get the last 20 pounds off and to maintain. That is something I have never been good at. I realize processed carbs are a slippery slope for me and so far have been able to eat 1-2 bites of special treats without having to have the rest of it. This site has some great recipes which is what I am primarily looking for!

Hello group, my name is Jennifer and I have had WLS. I had my lapband placed almost 2 years ago and have lost 100lbs. My diet is Atkins, most of my carbs come from veggies and I don't eat bread rice or pasta. I love Atkins and feel that it is a lifestyle that I can live with and I don't feel like I am missing out on anything.

Hope to meet some more Atkins followers here and give and receive support from others who know about the Atkins lifestyle.

Jennifer

lapband in 2008 at 298lbs , lowest weight was 183lbs , Band almost killed me and removed in 2011. No revison because to much damage for revision.

Anti Lap-band advocate!

Hi,
I had lapband in 2000 and revised to RNY in 2009.  Weight is going up instead of down, so I'm wanting to cut out the carbs!

Hi all... I'm Michelle and I had Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass 2/2002, and lost from 320 down to 139 at my lowest.  I've since gained back up to about 222 and am very sad.  I was considering a revision but don't want to go through it all again.  I started Atkins today and lived through day one!  I ate well and felt full...  My goal is to get down under 190 and then have my tummy tucked (which should take off 20+ pounds).  I don't have a goal in mind, just want my joints to feel better and not get winded when I walk more than a few feet.  I know that in theory if I get back to basics, i.e. protein protein protein, that I should lose weight again.  I'm glad to have found this group.  It's nice to find some other people on the same plan for support.  Best of luck to you all!

Chelle

Now doing Atkins to get the weight back off.  Wish me luck!!!
