OK. The Holidays are over-how'd you do?
If you "fell off the wagon" tell us how/why and what you're doing to get back on track. If you feel you did pretty well also share your strategy so others can benefit.
Happy New Year
Karen

Topic: RE: I can't get into the chat room!!!
Hi Lois, we did try the chat rooms but it did seem to be a bad time. But we will try and do instead is have an ongoing discussion related to messages posted on the message board. We will continue to look into having a chat having different time, that could certainly be fun as well! Karen Hixson, RN, CS, ANP

hi Michelle, good for you for being on the ball with this. ADEK's are for life, because of the permanent change in your anatomy and decreased absorption, being that ADE and K. are the fat-soluble vitamins. This is also not the first time we have had providers unfamiliar with bariatric surgery advise that these are not necessary. So just as we have stressed in the program, we really want to going by our guidelines and the information given you by the dietitian. As far as your sore tailbone, this is not an uncommon complaint due to losing all that padding, which is a good thing overall! Sometimes people choose to get a foam doughnut pillow when they know they're going to be sitting on hard seats. anyone else have any further suggestions for Michelle? Thanks for participating,
Karen Hixson, RN, ANP

Hey there Michelle,
Very chilly in northern NH this AM too! I have heard a lot of post-ops say that they mind the cold terribly in that first year or so. Good to know and plan for.
As far as I can tell, I would absolutely say to listen to your DS team as far as supplements go and forget the others, as most have NO idea what you have had done to your body and what that means for you as far as absorption and or lack thereof. That's why long term care and follow up were major criteria for me in choosing a program. Are your levels doing ok? How long did you go without taking the ADKE?
Talk to you soon,
~ Lois~

So glad to hear everything is going so well!!! And I am also glad you are going back to taking the ADEK's on a regular basis. It is so scary when we get incorrect info-but it is great to have peoople like Linda that we can call and confirm things with.

Good Morning- At my 1 year check up everything was great! But some where along the line- a pharmacist or PA or one of my doctor- none related to the Gastric Bypass DS team, told me I shouldn't be taking my vit's ADKE, only take what I need. That is NOT TRUE!! I am to take them. I should have known better or at least thought about it and asked the Doctor or Nurse Linda.... Have a great CHILLY 24 DEGREES here at 7:15am, oh and does that cold bother me this year!!! Not so much fat insulation any more.. And what do skinny people do about not having that extra padding for the tailbone? Mine hurt.. I think I'm ganna get me a car tire tube to sit on... See ya, Michelle
