Topic: RE: How long did it take to get a surgery date?
Laura,
The Bariatric Program at AMC will require you to complete their requirements before they will schedule. You will have a "wrap up" appointment (mine was with Karen) and they will call the surgeons office and schedule your surgery either at the end of that appointment or the next day. But, since you have an approval, the good news is that once they say you are ready to schedule, it should happen pretty quickly. I had my wrap up appointment on December 3, and before I left the office that day, both my surgical consult with Dr Hill, and my surgery itself were scheduled for Dec. 9 and Dec 17 respectively. So for me, it was 2 weeks from wrap up appointment to surgery.
Hang in there! It WILL happen! Hope that helps!
Best,
~ Lois ~

It took about 3 weeks for my surgery date to get scheduled. I called the office after I received my letter and they told me that it could take up to a month to get the scheduling done. The approval is in, so don't sweat it too bad. :)

I got my insurance approval letter last week and am impatiently waiting for a surgery date. How long did it take for you to get a date after you got approval?
Can't wait!

The mask can take a little to get used to for some folks, but overall the process is painless. The first night I had my bi-pap it was awesome, I actually got a night of rest. :)

I got fitted for one about 2 years ago. The process is tedious but not painful. A lot of wires connected to my head and body. Slept for a while. The tech and the machine did the rest. Of course that was then........now I am off the C Pap machine altogether. Weight loss did the trick!

Hi. Everyone is different. I hope by now you are seeing/feeling some difference. Your body reacts to surgery in it's own way. Keep the faith!

5lbs a week is great! I have seen some places that estimate 10-15 lbs a month for an average weight loss.
Keep it up!!

well, i ended up in the hospital for 10 days due to complications. I lost zero wt. the first 5 days, but then I started dropping pretty quickly. It's been 8 wks. now and almost 40 pounds.
