Believe me, I can relate.  ( I thnk we all can...) The important thing now is to remember that what is past is past and all you can do now is look foward!  Good for you for getting information and for your hard work so far.  Welcome!

Best,
~ Lois ~
PS:  Thanks for the PM.  I will be writing you back!

It certainly can be quite a journey of knowledge. I'm glad to hear you have lost weight and I am sure you can keep it up. Knowledge is power...and you can get plenty through AMC's program. Don't forget to do research on your own and ask questions often.

good luck!

Thanks and Hello to everyone. I have been thinking about  this for along time, have watched other people at my work place get a new lease on life, and after going to my family Dr in January and seeing the scale go to 346lbs I knew it was time to do something about it. Went to the informational meeting Febuary 18, 2010 and had my first office visit March 2, weighed in at 343lbs, I returned to Adirondack Medical Center March 30 2010 for some testing and had been working very hard for the month, stopped by the office on the way out to get weighed and now am 317.5lbs. The information I got at the first visit really opened my eyes to what I have been doing to my body for so long. Everyone will see me around here, as I read and learn from everyone. Thanks again.

Thank  you for your reply. I have only been on here a little-still reading and researching, trying to understand the differences between DS and RNY, which is better (I have read pros to both) but honestly when I had my RNY I didn't expect to be considering a revision so....disappointed in myself. I am very excited about AMC wish there was quality closer to home though, I travel 4 hours to AMC. Beautiful area.......

Have a great day.

Oh Laura, that's GREAT!  I have been away from the boards for a few weeks and just found your post now.  It won't be long now... Hang in there!

Leslie,

Yes, revisions from RNY to DS are possible.  Have you visited the DS forum / discussion board here on OH?  There are lots of veterans who had revisions, and who willingly share their story.  It makes for some fascinating reading, that's for sure.  If you need help connecting with any of them, please let me know and I will do what I can.

Meanwhile, welcome!  You have found a wonderful program at AMC and I look forward to hearing of your progress!

Best,
~ Lois ~

Leslie, I think your choice is excellent! I had the RNY in Sept 09 and the whole program at AMC is a wonderful experience. All of the people are wonderful and knowledgable. It is awesome to hear that you have managed some weight loss since your visit and I think that making contact again with folks who can help will keep you on the path. Keep up the positive attitude and the work will once again pay off.

Hello, my name is Leslie, I am new to AMC however not to gastric bypass (was 320 lost to 163 currently at 221). I had surgery in 2002.However, contacted AMC b/c my previous surgeon is too far away for me to reconnect with and I am in need of help. Since surgery I have had 3 babies and kind of lost my way a bit-struggling w/not being able to lose the weight. I really like the facility and the program seems very good. I am considering a revision-I previously had RNY but am looking to DS if a revision is necessary and possible. I had my scope done Wednesday and Dr.Hixson seemed very pleasant. I have met with Karen back in Feb-I liked her. I just met with Liz on Wed., liked her as well. I have to return in April for a Back on Track class and to meet w/ Dr.Hixson to discuss the results of my scope. He did inform me that I have a hiatal hernia-which I have been having great difficulty w/heartburn, waking up from sleep choking on what seems like stomach acid, occassional pains.  He also said my pouch seems quite large.
Just thought I'd introduce myself a bit and say how glad I am to be part of AMC and hopefully getting the help I need. I actaully have lost 3.5 pounds since my first visit w/AMC. I am trying very hard.

Take care. Enjoy your weekend.
