Depressed Disappointed

Hi All, these are just my words, my thoughts, my feelings....almost a year ago I sought the help of AMC for a revision but they neglected my need. They had me come to appts. meetings, have a scope, go thru back on track...I exercise, I get my protein, and my water and now almost a year later there has been NO WEIGHT LOSS! Infact I have gained a bit...I am discouraged, disappointed and depressed....the scope showed my tummy had stretched, they (AMC) offered me to participate in a meal replacement program they offer like Jenny Craig which the cost of food I would not be able to afford. I am struggling only to watch the scale climb. I thought they would have helped me and they turned their back on me. I feel so alone, and scared.....I don't know where to turn, do I seek somewhere else for a revision. I traveled over 4 hours one way for every appointment to end up with NOTHING. I thought they would have helped me....

In all things if someone is not happy with the service they receive it is good to look somewhere else. Did they tell you why a revision wasn't going to be done or why they thought it wasn't needed. Have you tried journaling to figure out if it is food intake or lack of nutrition? Have you reached out to any local support groups?

Gaining any weight can be discouraging, but is it the size of your stomach that is causing it, or do you feel there is some other reason that you are gaining. Is there a medical problem which is causing weight gain?

Unless your insurance will cover a revision, it will probably be more expensive than a meal replacement program. There are also many ways you change your diet to help increase your ability to lose weight without expensive programs. Have you explored any of those avenues?

If I can help in anyway...please contact me. We also have a support group that meets in Plattsburgh
once a month. send me a message through OH. I check it almost every day.

Good Luck finding what you need.

I went to them, they refreshed me on how much protein, how much water, and I am thankful for that because I wasn't eating very well then but now that I am doing all they instructed me to do I am gaining. I have a family to feed and meal replacement meals they offered is not an option. I believe my insurance covers a revision. They just said they didn't feel it was necessary which I feel totally neglected my feelings. Since I have been doing things their way almost a year now I am gaining. 1 cup of food at a time(Dr.Hixon's recommendation), protien first, at least 2 qts of water/crystal lite. I don't drink milk, I don't drink anything but crystal lite or water and occassional soy milk when I can afford it. I am getting 60 + grams of protein a day-going to the gym for cardio 3 to 4  times a week using an exercise ball at home when I can, in good weather walking 3.6 miles at least once a day. I am miserable. I had RNY in 2002 and lost 157lbs from 320, my goal weight was 150-160, I have had 3 babies in 4 years, had my panni removed which was over 10+ lbs. and I still weight more than when I sought help from AMC. I am at 236-240 when I first went there I was 215-220.  I don't know where else to go to seek help. Obviously I am tired of traveling over 4 hours one way to get no help. And it just isn't an option at this time.

How many calories a day are you intaking in your current eating pattern? Have you been journaling to see where changes can be made, if any at all? I would also look at finding someone to give you a second opinion. It could be, by general consensus, that the pouch isnt large enough to warrant a revision. It also may be the opinion of a different surgeon that is is big enough and they will do the revision for you, but it would be nice to get confirmation on that. I know all about having money issues as far as what foods you can and can't buy with your budget. I also know that there are many many ideas out there about what you can do with a creative spark and some determination. There are many cheap, tastey ways to make low calorie meals with high protein yield. If you are interested in talking more directly you cand send me email here: [email protected] and If you really want to, we could talk on the phone. I dont know your support structure, but would def like to include you in the one we have in Plattsburgh. Travel not being an option for you, would make the phone an alternative I am willing to do if it can help.
