Walking in the Park
April 26, 2008 11:18 am
Well it was a great way to start a beautiful Saturday.  Thanks to Anna, Janet, Kim, Glenda, Somer and Lauren for a great time!  I was having a poor pitiful me day and it was wonderful being able to take my mind of things for a little while.

Well, tomorrow morning is the 5k walk and I thought today that I might just go ahead with it.  But as the day progresses, I am talking myself out of it because of the "mess" of getting into the downtown area and wading my way through 20000 other bodies to the 'corral' to start.

But after the walk with the ladies today, I know that I CAN do it, since we did 2.8 miles today and the 5k equals 3.1 miles.  I think in my mind that is all I need to know!

My legs will never be the same, but it is strangely a good feeling!  I will try to make it next Saturday morning at 8:30 am at Mitch Park for Round 2!!

Don't forget about Support Group on Thursday night.  I will constantly preach about consistent support being the way to successful bariatric patients.  Keep on keeping on!  Love to all!! R

Updates

Sorry I haven't blogged in a few days.  It has been crazy at work and I just don't always have the energy in the evenings!

You guys know if you need me to post a message and I'll see it within a couple hours though.  You can also IM me on yahoo [email protected] and it will get to me as well.

Congratulations to LakeGirl and Liz on their surgeries this past week!  Welcome to the losers side and here are blessings for a rapid recovery and loss!!

We have John & Michelle both scheduled for May 5th and a couple others too that I cannot remember off the top of my little bitty head right now.

Hang in there if you are on your pre-op diets.  It takes a lot of disclipline to make it through without gaining the weight.  But it is ALL worth it in the end.  For those of us suffering or stressing through our post-op diets, UGGH I know the feeling!  Stay the course and good things will come!!

Just remember it is a TOOL!!!  We still have to do the work!!

Hugs and kisses to all!!  R

Just an update
April 15, 2008 1:48 pm
Hey Gang.  I hope you are coming here to check in frequently.  I am trying to blog every couple of days to keep everyone coming back.  I hope you have checked the schedule for Weight Wise events coming up.  Graduate Support Group on Apr 16 and RNY/VSG Support Group on Apr 17.

I am working on getting some OH Magazines for us to share.  It will take up to two months once I have ordered them, but I think they are great sources of information.  I have my own copy that I will have with me at Support Group this week, but you can also subscribe yourself by clicking on the Magazine icon at the top right of the page.

Remember, with the weather warming up, you need to be sure to get in all of your liquids!  If you are drinking caffeine (no lecture!) then the suggestion is replacement 1:1 per oz of caffeine.  If you have 8 oz of coffee, then you need to replace with 8 oz of non-caffeine liquid.  Ya'll stay away from my Starbucks cups!!!  They are deadly!!  And yes, I lecture myself every time I get one.....every morning.....

If you guys have nothing else to do, you can come downtown to cheer me on during the OK Memorial Marathon - 5 k walk.  I am NOT running trust me!  Of course, that 6:40 am start on that Sunday is going to KILL me but.....  I am not sure who all will be joining me....but I will be there with bells on...

Have a great few days, I will be busy with Support Groups the rest of the week so I will probably not blog until the weekend.  Happy 26th Birthday to my wonderful daughter Holly on April 16th!  And to my big brother David on April 18th, as well as Kevin and Bobbie.

If you have surgery coming up, stick with your pre-op and let me know what I can do to support you!

Love to all!! R

WeightWise News April 08
April 13, 2008 5:18 am
Here is the link to the most recent Weight Wise News for April 08.  I think the information that is reported in each of these newsletters is important to anyone who is trying to lose weight.  Although it is Weight Wise based, please check it out!

As always, if your specific surgical program information differs from the Weight Wise protocols, please check with your program before utilizing the information.  I certainly understand that all the programs are different and I want you to follow your surgeons stated path.

I hope all of you are doing well!  It looks like Spring is HERE finally.  Storms and all!!  If I don't get to post as often, please know I am still here and available for you!  It is a busy time for me at the office, but I can always be reached!

For all of you who are preparing for surgery, please let me know if there is anything you need!  And know that my prayers are with you and your medical team as you move into the next phase of your journey!!

Stay the course!!  It is WORTH IT!!!

All my love!  Ruth
