Are you doing laproscopic, or open? I hear the laproscopic healing is fairly easy, since it is just little holes poked in you, with one being slightly larger at about 1 1/2 inches long. This can be done with anywhere from 1-6 holes. If it's just 1 hole, it will be in your naval. All the holes heal to the point of being nearly, if not fully, invisible.
Now, open surgery...that's a little more to recover from.
Mine will be laproscopic, which most surgeons do now, but I don't know how many holes yet. I'll be asking my surgeon on the 1st.

Ooh...earplugs is a great idea! Thanks! Ya know...I'm hearing so many people say that they bring all this stuff we have listed, and don't use any of it except the chap stick. Everyone seems to agree that you will want chap stick!!!

I think I would rather bring extra items and not use them, than to not have them and wish I did!

So it sounds like we have three on the 7th, one on the 8th, one on the 9th, one on the 14th, two on the 28th.....who else? Name your date so we can all check in on you. Tonight I will start a thread about buddies...so we can have an opportunity to volunteer to be someone's buddy. The buddy will make sure to check in with you and report back to us until you are able to do so yourself. Maybe they can make a call to you while you are in the hospital.
Look for the thread sometime tonight..

Briar Rose is so busy that she hasn't had time to be nervous !!! Thank you for your messages !
I am pretty crazed right now -- having to do what I thought I had a month to do, in 6 days !!! I have used my lunch hours to run errands each day since Tuesday, and ran an errand each evening after work. The Vitamin Shoppe to buy vits and pick up ready to use bottles of clear protein drinks I ordered shakes, but they don't come until next week !) The bookstore for trashy novels for the hospital and hotel afterwards; Target for new jammies and some warm socks; Kaiser to pick up my post op prescriptions; it's crazy !

I still have to clean house and do marketing for my daughter for while I will be in the hospital, and at the hotel for 2 nights....(Surgeon and hospital is 2 hours away, surgeon insists that out of towners stay close for 2 more days, and then they take drain out before you leave town)....also have to pay bills........eeeeek

But with all the running around, I've lost another 2 lbs ! Only have to do liquids for 2 days prior to surgery !! So I'm just keeping up my low cal, low fat diet.....
