Mindy,400-600 calories seems low at this point of your journey. My doctor who I saw this week said I should be eating around 900 calories a day at this point. I'm not a fast loser, but it has been fairly steady. Now wonder your are bored with your eating. Good luck with the nutritionist.

i'm a kaiser member, so i do have to go to my primary - i do actually have an appointment to see the nutritionist on tuesday - i got a phone call friday reminding me about that, so i am REALLY happy i am going (besides the fact that the last time i saw the nutritionist she was 2 weeks from giving birth, so i'm excited to see her). i will probably get some insight from her. anyway, thanks for your input! i appreciate it!

Mindy,
Is there a Banner Health hospital near you? They have a big WLS program here in AZ and their policy is that ANYONE is welcome to attend their teaching classes and contact the counselors for help, guidance, etc. You also might consider handing the controls over to your primary care Dr. That arrangement you have with the surgeon sounds like it sux big time :(

thanks! i'm happy to eat more, but as far as i know i was last told to go with 400-600 calories a day. calling my surgeon (he's in san diego and i'm in bakersfield) is a pain, because the girl who they tell me is "his nurse" is in actuality his medical assistant - she's like a protective bear controlling every message that gets to him. when i speak to him he's wonderful, but trying to get there, not so much. would you believe when i was 3 weeks out, i had my first stall - and i was wanting to talk to him to make sure i was doing all the right things, she told me, "maybe you should go for a run". three weeks out . . . uh, no! i had to call like 4 different times until she finally gave him the message. then he called me back, spent about a half hour talking to me, very pleasant - didn't rush me, answered all my questions. but i haven't called back since until the other day. i called because i have been having brutal heartburn, and wanted a prescription for something. she said, i'll call you back to let you know the prescription is in . . . of course she never did call me and i called the pharmacy to check - no prescription. i had to call back again, and i still don't think it's there.
anyway, i will call on monday to talk to the dr and ask him.
that will be great to legally eat more! lol, thanks for your input!

I'm no expert but, with that much cardio you should be eating about 900 to 1200 calories a day.
The human body is an amazing machine. If you don't take in enough fuel (food/calories) it will protect itself and you will go into retention mode (no more weight loss). Maybe it's time to check back with your weight loss center/surgeon's office?
I personaly vary my food intake from day to day to keep my body guessing and avoid retention. Anywhere from 800 - 1200 calories per day. I eat the basics: chicken, fish, ground beef, broccoli, Romain lettuce, cream of wheat, eggs, sharp cheddar cheese, cottage cheese, tofu (extra firm), yogurt (Greek), ricotta cheese, honeydew melon, cantaloupe, protein drinks, Gatorade, water, water, water....
Keep up the great work!... Craig

i'm just wondering what everyone is eating at this point, having had their sleeves in february. i am really getting bored with what i'm eating, so i'm wondering if there are any ideas out there for me. also, what is your calorie intake? i've been through more plateaus than colorado. i was stuck for 2 weeks at my weight prior to my current weight, and now i've been here for 10 days. so, i virtually have lost 3 pounds in the last 4 weeks. not my first period of being stuck either. i am 206 and am so anxious to get to onederland, that i'm trying everything to do it! i'm not complaining, i've lost 35 pounds since surgery, 29 before, for a total of 64 pounds, but i'm really hoping to move it along. being 9 weeks out, it's an average of 3.8 pounds a week when before this month, i was averaging almost 6.4. so, it's not so much a complaint, and more of a concern.
i am walking 3.5 mph on the treadmill everyday for an hour, doing upper body exercises everyday. i know that i'm losing inches, and i know i'm getting smaller. i can tell by the loose skin! (ew). when i can i do p90x, and i do zumba. i am spending an hour or two everyday doing exercise, and it's mostly cardio.
and as far as intake, i'm taking in 400-600 calories every day. i'm tracking everything i put in, as well as out! i bought a fitbit, that tracks every calorie i am burning. i'm averaging 2532 calories burned a day, and taking in an average of 583. so, as there is nearly a 2,000 calorie deficit, i'm just wondering where all those calories went?
am i not eating enough? i don't know, anything is possible i guess. what are all of you doing?

don't worry . . . drinking is easy, it's the food that everyone has difficulty with, i don't, but a lot of people do. people who had surgery the same time as me talk about being full after 3 spoons of stuff. i am eating a half a cup at a time. i feel hungry a lot. but i do sometimes feel full. i eat the greek yogurt and cottage cheese too. sometimes i add the protein powder to the yogurt because i can't take the taste of the greek yogurt.
i often feel that the doctor only made scars, and didn't actually do my surgery! lol, i know that he did my surgery. anytime i take one too many bites. lol. however, i eat pretty slow - 1/2 cup is the most i have, and don't really tend to have any extra in my plate to begin with.
as far as liquids - they go right through, so it's not unusual that you can drink so much. i hear that from my support group here as well. they can drink a lot, just slowly.
my weight loss is pretty good. as i said, i lost the 29 before surgery, and now it's 30 after. i had a couple of stalls, where it seemed like forever before i lost a pound, but obviously it wasn't. yesterday was 6 weeks and i've lost 30 pounds - an average of 5 pounds a week is amazing! right? if i can keep it up for another month or 2, that's 20 or 40 pounds!?!?!?! if for some reason i am able to keep it up for 2 more months, that would be 70 pounds post surgery, and 29 before. i'll take it. who know's what's really going to happen though? not me . . .
the best thing i can tell you linda, is to just take it a day at a time. otherwise, you'll drive yourself crazy. but do the best you can. i too, do not cheat, and i am following this to the letter, i did not do this surgery for me to not lose weight.
i wish you all the success in the world. let me know how it goes for you!

HI I had my sleeve on 3/15 and I'm wondering how are you doing? Has your weight started to come off again? Do you still never feel full? I'm wondering because I thought it would be more difficult to eat. I am just on full liquids but can have greek yogurt and cottage cheese. I find I have to take small amounts of the yogurt and cot cheese, but I am able to drink my fluids. I do think I feel hunger though. When I get up inthe am and take meds and then finally get my protien drink or whatever my tummy feels a bit of discomfort...gas?or grumbles? I can't tell. But I do know that the fear of this not having the desire effect makes me nuts sometimes. I told my hubby I am afraid Ihave stretched it out just because I can drink my fluids. Crazy I know but I thought it should be more difficult. All I know is I will not let it fail. I will follow my diet, and not cheat by eating things not on the list. I want sucess. So can you tell me how you are doing? I hope for the best for you.

i'm doing pretty well, i think. i'm averaging about 5 pounds a week in the last 6 weeks. i've lost 29 pounds since surgery - and 29 before! lol, just realized that. so it's 58 since jan. 1. what's funny is i lost the same amount before and after the surgery. it's about 6 weeks before and after too. i guess i expected more after the surgery, but i'm becoming more patient. when i look at my face, i can't believe it. it's way smaller!
my only problem has been that i feel i am able to eat too much. i was reading someone's blog and they were saying they were able to eat 1/2 a cup a soup, 1 ounce of meat or 2 oz of fish at a time. i am able to eat 4 oz. at a time of ANYTHING. obviously i'm eating hardly any carbs, so not eating pasta or bread, but other than that, i'm able to eat anything. it worries me that this close to surgery i'm able to do that and am i going to be increasing sooner than most? i am very careful not to eat anymore than the 4 oz. but, i've been able to eat that for quite some time. when i left the hospital the doctor told me to start with 2-4 oz, and so, here i am 6 weeks later at 4 oz. i don't know, maybe i'm right where i'm supposed to be!
i have a pair of size 50 (men's) shorts in my closet, that fit me (i am only 5'4" and carried all my weight in my stomach) and i have been wearing 40's or 42 levi's that i have. now that's incredible!
anyway, you're right! we should continue to support each other. sorry i didn't see this until today.

Topic: RE: Sneezing after surgery
i'm feeling good! all of my pain is gone. sneezing is a normal thing again... which is good because i have sneezed A LOT today !
most of my pain was at my largest incision, the one with the sutures in it (which was on my left side, probably the same for you) that spot would hurt even if i wasn't doing anything. its fine now though, i think the sutures must be almost dissolved now :)
