so, here i am . . . i've lost quite a bit . . . highest weight 270, surgery weight was 243 and now . . . i woke up this morning and i am 234! i cannot even believe it and my surgery wasn't a week ago (tomorrow).  i am so excited at the prospect of being in the 220's within a week - who knows, i could fall into one big fat plateau and not make it there for weeks, but i'm still thinking i'll be there. from the day i got home i have been going to the gym and walking for a 1/2 hour, - i'm doing leg and arm exercise without weight, and i plan on continuing this for a long time. i have never been so hopeful in my whole life. i'm about to leave for the gym right now, and thought i should do this before i left.

tonight is my support group, and i can't wait to see everyone. i'm wondering how long it will be before i can do my p90x videos. i would like to start them before my return to work knowing that i will need lot's of energy to go back to work - i am an occupational therapist and often have to lift bariatric patients to transfer them, besides transferring other patients as well.

anyway, is everyone this happy? or is it just me?

LOL I'm happy, I'm 8 days post op and jus got my drain out.  SOOOOO HAPPPPY lol

How did you get your doctor to clear exercise I am not allowed Gym for another 5 weeks because of the strain it puts on our stomach. I was told they punch through a couple of the muscles with Lap VSG so the muscles have a greater chance to strain if we work out too soon.

Would love to konw! Cuz I miss my treadmill! lol

i'm so happy for you and i'm really happy i didn't have a drain . . .

the dr. told me to walk, walk, walk. i am only going 2.5-2.7 mph i guess, not over 3 like i used to, and he did say i can do that. they told us not to lift more than 5 pounds, so i'm going to use a 5 pound weight in each hand (one at a time) to work on my strength - if i feel even the slightest tinge in my muscles of my belly, i back off. i'm not taking any chances. but the dr. does know. it's not like i'm doing my p90x videos, or zumba, or bench pressing, lol.

maybe you can ask him that? i don't know, i find that every dr is different, and so it just depends on who your dr. is.

anyway, i hope you are ok, and healing well . . . good luck!

I love Zumba lol

I got sucked in one night on the infomercial and so glad I did, it's so much fun! Helped me lose quite a bit of weight before surgery.

I was at my doctors today and he said no Gym until week 6, but I can walk 10 minutes at a time 3x a day. I was pretty active before so it kinda bummed me out.....

But gotta run for now just ate some cottage cheese  and it's not agreeing with me LOLOL.....

Thanks for the info.
