I actually don't pay a lot of attention to fat these days and just eat what I want, though I do try to concentrate on protein. I kind of violated that last night (getting protein) when I ordered eggplant parm but I do love the stuff - at least I can't eat much of it at a time.

What a shock to learn about a young person's murder.
It must be sobering to view some of that WWII history but important to learn and remember. I have to wonder if some of what is happening in our own country would be less tolerated if that history had been emphasized here. DH and I are going to Auschwitz when we are in Poland next month.

So sad about DH's co-worker and also your friend's husband. It is difficult to be at the point in life when friends and family are dying. Makes one think about appreciating the time we have left.
Your strategy with your mother sounds wise. Hard to put it completely out of your head though, but again gives you a reason to appreciate your own marriage.

The sad truth is that we are all old enough to know how short life really is. Yesterday at the gym while doing yoga I found myself thinking of all the folks I loved who have passed. Now it's no longer just grandparents and parents who are gone, but friends who meant a lot to me.
I found myself thinking of Shel, who was such an awesome human being and who navigated her exit from this world with so much grace. I'll never forget that hour-long conversation we had a couple of weeks before she passed. Damn, that girl was staring into the abyss with such courage and curiosity. I think she'll be one of my guides when it's my time to go.

Ermagerd! That rose bush of yours is gorgeous! What is the name of it? We're plotting our new backyard garden right now, and roses of all kinds are going to be a big part of it.
I love that you Scrabble-bombed your opponent. And congrats on getting your eyes/glasses finally sorted out. Cataract surgery was life-changing for me, but it also took me a while to get the far-away and up-close balance sorted out.

Paula, all your news is so good--especially the "healthiest patient of the day" award and your doc taking you off the beta blocker. BTW, I just put dried mangoes on my grocery list. Thanks for that.

I wish I could see my hairdresser only every three months. I stretch mine to every 5 weeks, and that's not a small chunk of change.

Sorry you had all the dental hoopla but no good outcome. Does your dentist have to send out for your crown? Mine used to, but now they make them right in the office with a 3 D type printer.
Oh, you don't know me very well! I am such a rule follower! My coworkers used to call me "By The Book Paula!". Fun fact though, I sometimes cheat at crossword by Googling the answer!
