Greetings all

Happy Easter! Has the Easter bunny come to anyone's house? Not here. Remember those giant chocolate rabbits we got as kids that were hollow and tasted horrible? These days I would not eat one on a bet.

It is sunny and nice here today and we head to the casino restaurant at 3. I have already checked out the on line menu as I can get an appetizer as a meal. Crab cakes.

What a peculiar restaurant experience Liz. What is wrong with that owner? Agreed. Don't go back.

Hmm Ann at some Ace Hardware stores you can rent stuff as well as United rent all. But I am with CC - borrow one. My grandpa used to just toss that stuff around with his hands.

My garden is screaming at me. Well it's the planters on the deck. Time to get them ready for bedding plants. Last year I felt too crappy to even do the planter clean up but this year I think I will attempt it. Late April so it needs to be soon. No frost risk here.

So gallery duty was ok yesterday - my post cut short because I had to deal with customers! Having only cheese and crackers to eat all day was not so bad and it caused me to not eat all that much. I need to re learn the lesson of ignoring what feels like hunger. After a short time it goes away.

Yay Ocean Diane for Mahjong group. Sounds like fun. Yeas ago a friend of mine was in a mahjong group and they all wore matching red plaid nightgowns for the event. Even bought one for me when I visited. A great tribe indeed.

The dogs appear to have had a dance party in the shower. Will try to attach photo.

Years ago in an early year of maintenance I was very strict and ate no butter, shellfish and other high cholesterol foods. It made no difference in my own numbers. I concluded that the issue was more complex than eating shrimp. My own is high but at times the good kind is higher than the bad kind. A much more complex issue than common lore. ds

Do you have the NextDoor app where you live, Ann? Maybe you could ask there if a neighbor has one they are willing to let you borrow?

CC, you're right. Your neighbor is neither acting like a friend nor taking responsibility for her mistakes.

I feel for you because breaking up with friends can be hard. But it's sometimes the healthiest choice to make.

Your cholesterol story is a great example of human frailty. People are invested in knowing stuff. What they learn can have great value to them. What some folks don't appreciate is that what we once understood to be "a fact" can be refuted by future observations and learning. It mat even be painful to learn that we were "wrong." For some folks, it's less painful to reject current knowledge and keep believing outdated, inaccurate, even injurious "truths."

And I'm not even talking about fake news or weird conspiracy theories.

For fun, I just googled "What used to be true" and found some fascinating things that used to be accepted as legit knowledge. Heck, I remember in junior high school (in the 1950s) girls were told not to wash their hair during their periods because it might make them sterile.

Liz, what an appallingly awful response by the chef-owner. I'd never return either. I realize that controlling our behavior when we're in under stress can be challenging. But this guy really shot himself in the foot.

Ocean, I love hearing your voice here! And I love hearing one of us say we're at our "high" point, which is within a NORMAL BMI range. How far we have come.

I've thought about getting into mahjong after this remodel is over--friends here are joining mahjong groups all over town and loving it. Your life these days certainly sounds full. BTW, I envy your canoeing options there.

Anyway ... happy Easter to everyone, however you celebrate it. No Easter eggs or Peets for us. However, I just ate leftover sushi for breakfast.

Quick question ... does anyone know where you can rent a fertilizer spreader? We don't want to buy one and then have to store it. Home Depot doesn't rent 'em.

121 - I don't like it when I go up even while in my range. Hopefully it will turn down after today. I don't feel like I am eating any differently.

Yesterday was another beautiful weather day with warmth and a nice breeze off the water. The last few weeks here have been just perfect after a colder winter. It is actually not as hot as it usually would be by now mostly because of the breeze (which was what made the winter feel so cold). Interestingly it was hotter in Massachusetts, New York and New Jersey yesterday than here in southern Florida.

Last night's dinner out with friends was going well until a large flower pot exploded behind us. Weirdest thing, but especially when the chef came out and started accusing the person sitting next to me of knocking it over and costing him several hundred dollars for the expensive pot. What? First of all, I don't think he touched it but even if he did it was too close to the table. No concern that maybe someone was hurt or recognition that maybe it shouldn't have been there. The guy was really inflamed and said he was going to call the police (though he dropped that idea after being informed that one of our group was a retired lawyer and another was a retired cop). The poor waitress was so embarrassed. The other couple in the room backed up the story that he didn't bump it and was as amazed at the owner's reaction as we were. Too bad as we have liked this new restaurant but I don't think we will be back. We had a drink afterwards at a distillery next door. Yummy old fashioned.

Today we are making breakfast at home since our usual place is closed . We go to the Beach Club for "Linner" at 3. They have a special menu but it is kind of an odd mix of lunch and breakfast items. We thought it would be a mix of lunch and dinner items. Oh well.

Have an energizing Easter!
