Amen! My BFF and I used to say to one another (often after smoking a funny cigarette), "Two tacos... 99 cents!" and off we'd go to Jack in the Crack!

Some day I must confess to you all "Boulevard Buffet"!

Ha! We called that family tacos growing up. My mom and I liked everything spicy and my dad and brother liked everything mild! My mom and I put chopped jalapenos, chopped onions and cilantro on ours!

Made me envision Jack in the box tacos - the best "white guy" tacos ever with a slice of melted American cheese inside!

Hamburger browned in a mild taco seasoning mix (usually Ortega, the kind that comes in a packet like gravy mix), shredded cheddar cheese, shredded iceberg lettuce, chopped tomatoes, sour cream, mild taco sauce, hard shells. Optional: black olives. DH doesn't like olives, so we don't. I guess the added white guy touch is you put each ingredient in it's own bowl, so each person assembles their tacos as they wish.

217.??? (6 or 8)

Busy couple of days. Busy again for the rest of the week into the weekend. Always good for the weight though!

Happy Birthday, Ann!!!! Enjoy this 80th trip around the sun! Must say, you sure wear it well! I hope to be (and look) as together as you do when I am 79!

Liz, being a CA boy, I understand your need for a puffy jacket when temps only hit the low 60s. It's all a matter of perspective and what we are used to. Once I moved farther inland from the bay and we get mornings in the 30s with regularity during the winter, 50s don't seem all that chilly for the morning now. When I was growing up I was wearing warm winter coats with temps in the 50s because that was cold for us on the bay! I do enjoy having seasonal weather where I am.

I have reached the amount of weight loss and body size that makes me want properly fitting clothes. All of my warm winter jackets are now quite oversized. All of my down jackets hang down below my crotch. Booooo!

I wore the Burgundy, Wine, Claret Red suit at the dog show today. Lovely compliments from many. So, I pulled it off! Whoo hoooo! Sadly no pic, now that I think of it.

Off to the gym for a late workout!

Mediterranean is one of my favorites. Minneapolis wasn't really a foodie place in the early 80s. My aunt took me to Greece in 1984 as a college graduation present, where I experienced tzatziki for the first time. I swooned. Now I can find good tzatziki in many places, but it was a revelation that day in a little taverna in Athens.

So cold here, like Wisconsin. A brutal wind arrived, polishing the meager snow cover into thin layers of ice. Treacherous footing in the staff parking lot when I left work. The wind was so fierce it took two hands to pull my car door shut. Wind chill could be -25 tomorrow, which sadly isn't enough to cancel school. Wind chill has to be -35 or colder.

I bet Kirby wasn't impressed with his impromptu hose bath! LOL. Great to have all your packages delivered, and be far enough from everyone to not worry about porch pirates!

Diane, I hope the new dentist is a good fit. I am a huge fan of my dentist. Our whole family has been seeing him since DD was 3 years old. He's going to retire soon, and I am not looking forward to finding someone else.

Happy Birthday Ann! My daughter shares your birthday, and I hope she has a life as rich with experiences as yours. She is definitely on her way having racked up an impressive amount of travel and other adventures. When she was 18, she decided she would meet Allan Rickman in person. She flew from Chicago to NYC for 24 hours, saw him in a play, waited at the stage door, had him sign her program and chatted with him briefly. Luckily a friend traveled with her, so she has pictures of the great event.

DD came into the world at 35 weeks, A tad bit too early. She was in the Nicu for 8 days, and on an apnea monitor for about 10 months. Sadly, my FIL passed away when she was 6 weeks old. (My MIL had passed 3 years before). The good thing that came of her complicated birth is DH had more weeks to see his father hold his 1st child, to get pictures of them together, to bring her to his last birthday party. It was a time of huge contradictory feelings, profound grief for DH to be an orphan at 32, profound anxiety about DD's well being, but above all profound joy. She was a bright, beautiful light in a dark season.

More decisions coming down from our new administration that will take effect next year that will probably be walked back after they crash and burn. But that's A September 2025 problem, so, oh well. I'm trying to use my what have I got to lose position to speak up for my colleagues and students when I can, and I've already spoke about this new initiative. I will definitely miss many students whose future I care very deeply about, but I won't miss the politics and arbitrary decisions.

DH made white guy tacos tonight, and they really hit the spot. Lunch is already packed for tomorrow. And its a semiglutide miracle yet again: even with some indulgences, weight is steady. What is this witchcraft?
