They can't afford it except as a bequest and we are probably going to spend less and less time there and more here in the future. And this home is owned jointly. So it makes sense to just stay there in between stuff up north.

The shark was saved today! I just know you had a win in you!
Washing coins sounds interesting. Did you check to see if any were old enough to be worth more than face value?
Congrats on the 80 lbs. Peps!
Grizz is absolutely adorable! I love him!
You know the cure CC? Go out and find your own Love to occupy your time! You are a terrific catch!
Sorry your Cape home doesn't feel like home to you Liz. Would DH consider selling it to his kids and you two could get something that felt more like the two of yours? I know when DH and I decided to get together I was adamant that we get an our home instead of moving into an existing domicile!
Greetings all
Early check in on this sunny windy day. Scrabble canceled at the last minute which is fine by me as I have a lot to do today. Spared the Shark for one day. Appointment later in the day for new glasses and gallery meeting tonight plus some banking stuff. The bedding plants are still not all in (as DH reminded me 3 times this morning) so better do that.
Peps that pup is so adorable. I think of him as Teddy Bear instead of Grizz. Whatever you call him. he is a prince among the kings of terriers. Glad he has courage around the big dogs. Adult dogs are a big help with potty training I think. Bet you are feeling very excited for your new frontier as you well should.
Liz I get why the MA place might not seem as homey. But you are gradually making it yours so it is good. Too bad kid does not get things done; leaving more for the old folks. Not cool.
Yeah CC I hear you on the friends who are no longer quite single. New romance is demanding. But you are right once they are married they will find more time. Always seems that way. I was not married until age 43 so I have seen this movie. Hope the bird deflectors work. Avoiding squashed birds is a good thing (said Martha).
I actually spent part of this morning washing coins! The gallery is low on change and I got a message. Found about five pounds worth in the bottom of my purse plus others in jars. They were kind of grubby so I washed them in a callander. Strange activity.
Taco Tuesday! I am envious. More shrimp here tonight. Guess I could do shrimp tacos.

I think we are doing Mexican too! Probably fajitas though because we can split them and DH eats them without the tortillas. Maybe I will try a street taco (my friend said they are great at this place).
I think he looks like a Grizz! Loved that picture of him on the dishwasher door. My smartest puppy was a beagle who house trained using a crate in less than 2 days.

I do think the early stages of love suck up the most time. It will get better.
DH's kids are somewhat like him in that they don't like change. Also somewhat like him is putting off home improvements as long as possible. Aggravating that is DH's son-in-law who can procrastinate until the cows come home even though he has the most time on his hands (hasn't worked for 7-8 years now). He was put in charge of overseeing the deck replacement and fence installation at the Cape but last time DH asked had no idea what the status was. Sigh... We did replace the furniture in the sunroom and master room with mine as well as the counter stools so a little bit of my former home is integrated. I think the short amount of time we are going to be there this summer is affecting my feelings too. Between trips I will only spend about 53 days there.

201.0 today! I am officially down 80 pounds since starting semaglutide followed by tirzepatide. Whoo hooo.... Of course, I'm so close to 199.9 I don't want to eat a damn thing! I'm sure hunger will kick in soon enough...
Grizz is a helluva pup! (I believe that Grizz will end up being the puppy's name... He doesn't seem like a "Bear" the more I spend time with him.) He has no fear of the giant Airedales and has acclimated really quickly. He is a devoted little puppy, too. Follows me and checks in frequently. He's also smart as a whip with house breaking. Not a single accident yesterday. He even ran outside to the fake lawn to potty all by himself! Ron is smitten, too. But Ron keeps calling him SHE!
Having trouble focusing lately. Must be all that's going on. I keep flitting from one thought or chore to another without much direction or reason. I must get some "paperwork" done. I have the time, but keep forgetting to get it done. UGH... One of the things that must be done is finalize my separation from the district. Payroll doesn't seem to be contacting me, so I guess it'll be up to me to get that done. I also have to finish up my pension application. I can now submit it because I'm within 90 days of my official retirement date (August 15, 2025 - my mom's b'day).
Happy Taco Tuesday!!!! It's what's for dinner!

I'm sure the visiting feeling is amplified by it also being his kids' house in a lot of ways. It would be different if it was his and you could make it both of yours. But with kid's memories involved, it's much more challenging to navigate. And even moreso in that they don't seem engaged in participating in keeping it up!
I am feeling a little... forgotten? with two of my closest friends both newly in love. I understand there are only so many hours in the day and so much social energy to go around and romantic relationships can be all consuming. But it's such a bummer phenomenon that single friends get put on the back burner when a relationship starts. I'm happy for them truly, but I miss what our friendships were. I once read though, you get them back when they get married. Lol.
Today's chores involve cleaning bird splats off certain windows and putting UV decals on them to try to prevent future bird splats. They aren't super visible from inside (somewhat, but they're clear), and they are cling film so removable. I hope they help!
Anyway, hope everyone has a good day!
