Greetings all
It's sunny again but with a nice breeze. Almost hot but not quite. DH had lunch with the guys and brought home most of it. Yay.
So I spent time at the studio today and made some new items. I really need to get more stuff to the gallery. Two things sold today. More should come out Monday. Plumbers truck was at the studio today which is always a bad sign. Just had stuff fixed. I did not inquire. Don't want to know.
Yes Liz I vote for new Kindle. A must for you! Just read something about a book called The Yellow House about a family in a poor part of New Orleans and their history. Sounded good. With all the house stuff you have earned a new one. And yay for still losing.
CC you have tech overload!!! Such a pain to try to figure that stuff out. There are never any directions. I feel your pain. I am lucky DH is into that stuff but occasionally he is stumped and then he gets really cranky. My brother calls it tech fatigue. Anyway glad your dad is doing ok. Hoping that continues.
Hmmmm Peps that cholesterol number does not sound bad at all. Did they at least do blood sugar? What passes for an annual physical these days seems to be just fog a mirror. And maybe I am a bad influence but I say buy all the new suits you want!! After you retire you will not buy new clothes much anymore. Enjoy little Bug while she is a pup. Missing puppies here.
Well my friends are showing up in August and have made a hotel reservation so it appears they understand that we don't do houseguests anymore. Looks like I will only have to be hostess for one day so I will survive.
Gallery duty tomorrow and DH gets another vein done. Have to jockey to make sure both electric cars are charged. His is in now. Buzz is on the driveway.

I used to do all that tech stuff myself but I think I would hire someone to do it if I were in your shoes.

Scale up 0.4. We had pizza last night. My dad is feeling a bit better today. He gets super weak and wheezy with coughing. I guess he gets some fluid in his lungs when this happens.
I was up until 1am trying to get my new router to work! Grrrrrr. It's a hell of my own making. I was running to the barn gym to press a button that needed pressing within 2 minutes of starting a syncing process when I got a pop up asking if I wanted to update the firmware. I should have said no, because without the extenders (satellites) of the router connected to it, the firmware update just happened on the router and now it can't recognize the satellites because they have different firmware. Argh!! So the solution is to revert back to the old firmware except I have no idea what version they shipped with and they have 9 prior versions on their website. I emailed Netgear asking if there is a way to know which is the right one. Waiting to hear back.
Otherwise, today I am doing laundry, ran to the bank to do some board business, and might take a nap at some point. We're going to a celebration/party in memory of the friend I've mentioned in the past who was in a wheelchair who passed away in December.
Time to put in another load. Take care all.
Liz, congrats on a very fulfilling and successful week on so many fronts!!!!!
I lost a pound this week. Not what I am used to, but I think my body is taking a little pause. I definitely "feel" smaller. So, I'm going with that.
My recent labs showed my non fasting cholesterol up about 30 points. I can live with that though, I'm still well under 200. My cholesterol was down to 130 something on the previous test. It's now 164. BUT, the doc didn't run my A1C, which I thought was the purpose of getting my labs done! UGH.... That is really the only number I cared about.
I decided to stay at my current dose of 10 mg for the next four weeks. Though I had some cravings the past two days, I'm chocking those up to emotional eating - placing Jiffy. Though I'm stoic, it is still really hard for me. They have sent me some videos and she is having a nice adjustment period, but clearly is still unsettled. Today Bug's littermate that we have been watching leaves. YAY!!!! We will be back down to our "core" pack. My twins, Lucky and Dottie turned 7 today. Time flies.... They are officially seniors and are considered veterans in the show world. DAMN!
Gotta get myself together. My brother and his dog arrive in a few minutes for grooming!
123.6 (-1.4) - still losing. Now that I am in the middle of my preferred range I need to make a more concerted effort to eat more. As I have commented previously how weird is that to have to work at it? I have frequently been skipping breakfast because I am generally not hungry until lunchtime but perhaps I will add my morning eggs back.
So nice to be here in Florida again. It feels like a vacation. Though it is warm it actually isn't any more so than what we have had up north during this hot summer. The beach was quite pleasant yesterday with a nice breeze as long as we stayed under the umbrella. We may try a walk this morning since we are up early.
My kindle almost died yesterday and I was feeling panicked! The charging port seems to be breaking down but I was finally able to get a charger in very delicately and got it to 100%. Time to order a new one. I looked back at my history and can see that I usually need a new one every 5 years (I bought my current one in 2019). So it was time. Hopefully the charge will carry me until the new one arrives up north. I can't survive without something to read and I prefer to do it on my kindle.
We are going to put pictures back up today in the living room. Though there are a few final things to be done by the contractor, the decorations won't get in the way. DD's bachelorette party is here in just about a month so I am glad we can get it back in shape and clean prior to that.
Not much else going on. No specific plans for the evening though we will likely go out somewhere. I also want to get a couple of things from the grocery store at some point.
Have a fructuous Friday!

Nice to feel more relaxed and enjoy a slow day isn't it?

Greetings all
Another nice sunny day.
Ocean Diane what a frightful event for your friends! Terrible. It's so good of you and others to help out. Hope they are on the mend. So sorry for the lost dog. Agreed. Bucket lists count.
Liz glad you are safely on the beach. You deserve it.
DD hauling suitcases up all those stairs! I think I would have just changed clothes in the car every day. Enjoy the visit and the rest of summer.
CC glad your dad is home. Agreed that hospitals make it impossible to rest. Remember a long time ago there were signs outside hospitals that said "Quiet Hospital Zone"? Now the inside of hospitals require ear protection. I remember when DH had his VSG there was a room across the hall that had an alarm going off constantly. It was worse than an airport.
I seem to have recovered from my homicidal mood. Nothing like a sunny day and a little time in the studio to improve attitude. I made some more items and have a lot to be fired tomorrow. I ran some errands and picked up meds and dog food. Both essentials of life.
DH had another vein done today and has one more Saturday. Can't believe they are doing it on a Saturday but it's true. Us retired people don't care what day it is. So he is ecsconced in his lounger with his legs i compression stockings. He is happy and dinner is all set for tonight so I am happy.
Bonnie onward on the new house. Have you explained to Swan?
Slow day here. Thats how I like it.

Technology, our friend and foe! Glad you got some umbrella shaded beach time!
2 years ago my Aunt and Uncle loaned us their cottage in Ipswich for an entire month! What an adventure. They no longer have that cottage, so this time we're renting for just a week in Rockport Massachusetts, then staying a few days with my Aunt and Uncle in Amherst, and then back to a Boston for a few days.

They load him up with pretty aggressive antibiotics each time he gets a UTI in his kidney/stent, but it doesn't seem to keep him from getting new ones. Age and an open environment don't help no matter how careful Claudia is with changing his ostomy bag.
