Wow - sorry but what your Mom said is just not ok. It must be such a relief to be back wit DH and DS - hugs.

Back to home base. Sounds like everyone has had some good advent this weekend. The hunting group got 2 young bucks. My brother and my nephew were the ones who took the deer down. There is one hunk of venison in my freezer right now, but it is going to Wisconsin with DS. Sorry Miss 150, not a deer neck in sight. I wonder if anyone in my family does anything with that meat? My nephew and his family will definitely eat all the venison. His hunting and fishing skills help keep them all fed.
The visit with my Mom was pretty uneventful. I cleaned the fridge and did a lot of laundry, and even got around to getting the cat's litter box cleaned out and tidy again. I also made a lot of meals, more than I've cooked at home for weeks. There's a lot of stuff my Mom says that I just try to be patient with. There's always a part of the visit where she cries and asks me how much longer is she expected to keep going on? There is no good answer or comfort to offer to such a query, so I just try to murmur sympathetically. It does look very very tough. When I was leaving and she was thanking me she said, Oh, I know why we had you, even though we were disappointed you weren't a boy at first. Well, your Dad was more disappointed than me. I replied, I don't think so. Oh yes, you know, men want sons. Good lord, what a narrative after all these years. I'm 63, but my Mom still has to think about my birth as some kind of catastrophe, but she is happy now she has me. Well, at least it wasn't the abortion story this time.
Home with DH and DS. They are both napping. I'm sure they're very short on sleep. I'm not sure what will be happening for supper. I'm kind of done cooking for the weekend. My plans might be like Ann's menu, some peanut butter and jelly toast and some whiskey (or in my case bourbon).
150.9 I think. Down a smidge. Yesterday I was only able to get in 600 calories. I aim to do better today!
The clothes sorting and rearranging took the entire day and part of this morning! I did find the size 4 clothes after all. Glad that task is finished. 1 large garbage bag to the trash and 3 large garbage bags that will go to the thrift store. The rest I'm keeping at least for awhile.
Off to Costco with DC1. Need some basic supplies and then we will have the rotisserie chicken for dinner! Yum!

Train day! Balloons are soaring... I'm leaving Dog tv on on you tube. https://www.youtube.com/live/xYblSC5dCQA?si=_Q923sI-Yq4t3euP
Seems very soothing and Kirby is quite interested. My neighbor is coming by to check on him mid-day. So nice of her! We've walked him already.
Hope everyone has a great day!
That sounds good (and easy)!

Liz, your Sunday plans sound like a great day to me.
It's beautiful this morning here, too. The buyer dad and his brother (who happened to be in town this weekend) came by at 8 o'clock this morning to walk the property. Naturally, I went with them and named every tree along the way. You'd think they'd have wanted me to STFU, but they welcomed all the information. The brother (who lives in Texas) wants to relocate here, too, so it was a useful outing for them both.
And now I'm happily home alone again. I won't see the buyers again until the closing in mid-December, which is just fine with me since I don't relish becoming an unpaid consultant for the next 5 weeks about my home and property. I am grateful that they're excited about their new home, which is a very, very good thing. :-)
Today I'll continue decluttering and packing.
BTW, I'm infatuated with my latest breakfast craze, which is a homemade Egg McMuffin with a whole wheat English muffin, American cheese (the good kind, if there is such a thing), Canadian bacon, and an egg poached in the microwave with cracked black pepper. Here's how I make it:
- Slice the English muffin in two and toast it.
- Put the Canadian bacon and American cheese on one half of the toasted muffin for 10 seconds to warm the bacon and soften the cheese.
- Microwave 2 ounces of water in a small bowl or cup for 30 seconds.
- Crack an egg into the ho****er, pierce the yolk with a toothpick, and cover the container with plastic wrap.
- Microwave the egg for another 30 seconds.
- Put the drained poached egg on the other half of the muffin and pepper it. Then combine the two sides. Voila! Egg McMuffin.
Since some microwaves don't all heat as quickly or high as other microwaves, you may have to heat the water a little longer (maybe 40 seconds). As the recipe I read said, "You may need to experiment with the cooking time--but after all, it's only an egg." :-)

Wow, what a fun day that sounds like. I hope your husband starts to feel better--that sounds like would help.
Last night at dinner folks talked about how they were processing the election outcome, and "being in nature" was the common theme.

I'm sorry too, Diane.
My close friends haven't started dying yet, although some long-time business clients and colleagues have passed--people who were true leaders in my business world, whose deaths were a shock. And during COVID I lost a sister whose health had been declining for years. I probably haven't completely processed that yet. I hope my sisters and I can work on that when we're together in a few weeks for another sister's surprise birthday party.

I completely understand. Neither would I have done this if I hadn't moved. But it was time. I'm finally at the point where I no longer need multiple photos of an old weekend getaway or all his old socks. It's good that time cures THOSE kinds of obsessions.
