How long will your recovery be after the hand procedure?

It's that time of year when you go from hot to chilly so quickly.

I believe that WLS was successful for me, because along with restriction, it did quiet the food noise. I was fighting a war on two fronts: biological and emotional. Removing the hormone driven impulse made it easier to deal with the emotional impulse, or the head hunger as some call it. Also, I don't think there are many people who don't experience a desire to eat something absent real hunger. That urge strikes just about everyone, it's just for some people, the emotional call to eat is not as frequent, or maybe as persistent as it is for some of us.

Quick grocery store run and an unfruitful hour round trip to Home Depot today. The one by my old house always had a huge houseplant section. The one here had a few measly pothos and that was it. I'd like a tall plant for my dining room.

The weather a few degrees cooler and cloudy, so it doesn't feel as hot.

Drinks at the neighbors was lots of fun. Holy moly their newly finished house is spectacular. I was so jealous! I think I need to commit to a daily 30 minutes of tidying/decluttering. It's their 3rd house, so it loos perfect without a lot of personal stuff around. Not a pile in sight. And so beautiful! Whole walls of glass opened up and rolled back to various patios, one looking out onto a zero edge pool with the mountain I look at it just behind. (All I could think about was how do they not have scorpions? All of it jaw dropping, really. Makes me wish I'd built from scratch! Though this is the culmination of 5 years of work on the house, so it's not a fast thing. It's a second (or third?) marriage for both, so they've been married for 3 years, together for 10 with 4 grown adult kids between them. I also got a chance to meet a neighbor up from me who I haven't had a chance to yet. She was really nice. They lost their adult daughter to cancer a couple of years ago and, devastated, she apparently just retreated from life. So I hope she had fun and could see there is still life to be lived, even if it was just drinks with neighbors.

Today is shot day, but I haven't taken it yet. I have a headache and feel a little yucky. Maybe later or tomorrow.

Thinking good thoughts for Florida...

Take care all!

Greetings all

The fog has rolled in. I enjoy its coolness. House was cleaned this morning and our cleaner will house sit for us next week for two days and care for dogs on our Trek to Marin County to see the hand doctor. I hope we can find a nice dinner. If it's clear it's a great drive. Had to make a quick trip to the gallery due to report that we were out of small bills. Took a hundred in little ones. Reports of the shortage were exaggerated. But it's done. After that I did my walking and went to the studio. No grunters; only geezers. Still fiddling with gallery lease. Talked to my brother, real estate guru and he had some ideas.

Not much else going on. Our printer is not working and DH thinks it's an issue with the latest Apple IOS update. All his on line nerd friends have theories. So I can't print anything. Pens and paper still have uses.

The hurricane predictions are terrifying. And tornadoes! Wishing safety to all. And Liz, DS boss must be nuts. If commercial flights are canceled that should be a clue. Hope that trip is called off and that your friends are safe

Door county looks so cool Paula. Enjoy the last of visit.

Peps I am with you. Earthquake over hurricane. Of course I have never been in a horrible one. Just a few knick knack busters. Knock on plastic covered wood. And yeah you are right about the old food tapes and the donuts. Stress and tiredness = eat sweets.

Every time I plan any kind of trip I realize I have absolutely nothing decent to wear. Not that I care much. I should go to this shopping center in Marin that I have been to before but likely won't.

Hamburgers again tonight. Then its foraging....

No weight until Friday.

Last full day in Door County. Went to the art gallery and another lighthouse today. Chilly weather today, especially with the wind.

Early dinner tonight that was only okay. How to try and get some sunset pics!

I totally appreciate your suggestion that the donut craving might be more emotionally based from an old tape. I think that is fairly likely. Regardless I dumped those buggers so they wouldn't be singing to me.

And yeah for a cool well-fitting t-shirt!

This morning I listened to a report on NPR about how our "human influenced climate change" (what they called it) is affecting weather and how hurricane Helene sucked up vapor in a way that no other hurricane has done before which allowed it to dump a full 2 feet of water on the Carolinas. Apparently, hurricane Milton is another human influenced climate change hurricane. SCARY STUFF! Florida seems less and less inviting to me these days.... humidity, alligators, snakes, and now mega hurricanes... Dry heat in the 100s and earthquakes seem far more inviting!

Liz, I do hope that Milton is not as damaging as predicted and that your many friends' properties fare well.

Weight pretty much the same today. A little up, but I didn't poop yesterday, so that could be the extra ounces I'm seeing on the scale today. Doesn't really matter much anyhow.

Liz, you have had so, so much on your plate the last months. It seems to me that a donut craving could be a normal effect of the post active stress period. I often crave sweets and comfort foods AFTER a stressful period. I wouldn't worry about it. Try looking at the whole picture. Could the donut episode have simply been an old tape clicking on? The tirzepatide can only do so much. We all know our brains are powerful, powerful and have effectively controlled our eating behaviors (for better or worse) for most of our lives.

I know not everyone likes/enjoys/thinks it's necessary to look at the "emotional" side of our eating behaviors, and I know I have offended members of our TT suggesting they investigate that side of their obesity issues. I really do believe that for most of us understanding that our eating behaviors may be triggered by emotion and the ability to recognize the difference between the food noise that is quieted by the GLP-1 meds and emotional food noise that is unrelated to the lack of hormone is going to be key for those of us with complex obesity issues. Take it or leave it.

NSV - Closet shopped again today. I'm wearing a size large music t-shirt. It's a Cat in the Hat that says, "I will sing here and there, I will sing everywhere!" It's pretty cute! LOL Anyhow, Ron got it for me a long time ago and I have never been able to wear it. I was pretty stoked to put it on and have it fit without being tight except across the chest and biceps (where T shirts should be a bit snug).

Not much else from here.

Witchy Wednesday, all!

CEO of DS's company has a screw loose. Some people really have no clue about the real power of nature.

So I lost my post from earlier (inadvertently hit a link). Frustrating!

Weight 120.8. I had the hungry horrors last night in a way I don't think has happened since I have been on the tirzepatide. Maybe the 2.5 mg is too low a maintenance dose for me. Too early to tell though. I consumed a donut, something I haven't craved for 6 months. The remainder of them have been dumped in the trash!

I am very worried about will happen to a friend's mobile home in Venice when Hurricane Milton comes through. It looks like a direct hit there. He is in Virginia at a hotel, but who knows if he will have a home after this. Regardless I'm sure there will be no power and no water for quite a while. He and his wife only have a seasonal home in NH as an alternative and it has no water after this weekend so they can't stay there. I expect they will end up at another friend's home on the same coast ultimately but he may go to my condo for short term (assuming mine has power). Still feeling okay about my condo but the Tornado warnings are a bit disturbing. I guess all will be known tomorrow.

I forgot that DS was flying to Orlando on Saturday to work a conference next week. His co-workers were supposed to fly today to start setting up. The CEO of the company has said that the setup crew will fly on the corporate jet if necessary as long as the airport and conference center are open. What a mess!

Today I am going to continue washing some windows and finish the packing of my Florida box. Grilled swordfish for dinner tonight. Have a wacky Wednesday!
