So sorry - the tendency to hoard does seem to sneak up on some people over time. Difficult behavior to change but not under their control emotionally. Hard not to be angry (I would be too). Good luck!

Oh no! Sorry about the guest room surprise. Hopefully DH will at least help clean it up! I would be angry too!

123.9. Back down! Bathroom success!

Took a DH walk earlier today. Otherwise just doing food prep for dinner tonight. DS3 is here for the day/night (has a local psych appointment). Making chicken burrito bowls for dinner. Shredded chicken with Mexican spices and tomatoes and green chilies made in the pressure cooker, pico, lime cilantro rice, guac and queso. Maybe some refried beans too. I like to dunk tortilla chips in mix!

Supposed to be rainy the next few days. It just started raining here now!

Bible study tomorrow. We skipped the study part last week so I need to do some review.

I can't imagine 22 hours on a plane. I think the trip to Maui is bad enough. I would want one of those sleeper seats for sure!

Good for you Peps for booking the next trip!

Hope your flight goes well Liz and you have a grand time at the wedding!

Greetings all

Early check in on this cloudy day. The house is getting cleaned. I got a notice of some kind of unclaimed property relating to my mom's estate. Actually seven identical letters. In the course of following up I had to find my mother's SSI number which led to seeking a box of stuff from the back bedroom. This is our guest room and we have a house guest coming in two weeks. So imagine my horror in discovering that DH has boxes and boxes of stuff all over the room and covering the bed and no place to walk. I had no idea he had trashed it so bad. This is where stuff went that he removed from our bedroom. I am so annoyed and discouraged. Time for counseling I think. This has gone on too long. DH's best friend is a retired therapist and I may start with him for ideas. Crap (literally).

Peps I hope your flight is good and uneventful. Overall a great trip!! Italy is wonderful. A few years ago we did the northern lake district - Milan and smaller towns. Loved it. Love everything about Italy. So go for it.

Liz amazing how what used to be a physical is now a wellness check. That is because they don't do hardly anything anymore. A bit of bloodwork and listen to heart. Better than nothing I guess. Glad all is well and that you are getting a stronger blister creme.

Once the house is cleaned I will be off to the gym. Need to walk off some anger. Then maybe the studio. No clue what is for dinner as the quiche is gone. I am tempted to tell DH he is on his own and not to expect another dinner from me until he does something about his hoarding. I think he knows I am pretty pissed off.

Well I need to go take some action which is what usually calms me when I am annoyed about something. Methinks I will also make a dent in my own clutter. The difference is that mine is only on my own desk and closet while his is ever expanding. Like slow lava...

22 hours of travel for Peps!!! I hated when we went to French Polynesia and it took that long more or less. I just hate being confined especially in a sitting position and I have never flown a plane in a sleeper seat. By the time you read this I'm sure you will be home and have greeted the dogs. Good planning on Italy. The Sistine Chapel is amazing.

117 - still lower than I have been just before embarking for Europe. No weighing for 3 weeks!

So, so hot yesterday. It was 10-15 degrees hotter in the northeast than at our Florida home yesterday. And no sea breeze at all. We had to stay in the AC. Today will be 10 degrees cooler and then it drops to below average for the next few days (though I won't be here LOL). I just checked the weather in Madrid and it will be around 100 every day we are there!!! That is going to be tough.

My Medicare Wellness visit was good yesterday. She gave me a stronger steroid cream for my skin condition and did some blood tests. All was in normal range.

Today is just errands and tasks related to the trip. The laundry was started by 6 am. We leave the house around 4:15 pm, and our flight departs at 10:30 pm, landing in Madrid at 11:30 am tomorrow (7 hour flight). I typically do not sleep well on planes but I am going to see if taking some benedryl will help.

No idea when I will check in tomorrow. We will have Wi-Fi at our apartment which we get into at 3 tomorrow (9 am US eastern time?).

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

I would take bank deposits over kitchen duty anytime!

I hope all goes smoothly for your trip home. And thanks for the political update - more or less the same view of us Americans as in the past I guess. I hope Barcelona isn't too nasty.

I realize it is only 2:30 AM east coast time, and not even the 25th at my house in CA, but here in Budapest, it's already 8:30 AM. We've been sitting at the airport for over an hour already. All checked in, through security in under 5 minutes, a nice walk through what looks like an upscale shopping mall upon entering the main terminal, and to the gate.

I spent a good chunk of time on the phone with Viking last night booking our Italian cruise. We will be on a small ocean ship with a capacity of 930 passengers. We decided to spend an additional 3 full days in Rome prior to embarking on the cruise. That way Ron will get a full day to explore Vatican City. I'm more interested in the Roman ruins and ancient history, but I do think it'll be a treat to have a private tour of the Sistine Chapel, which is included in the extension we added on. It is, again, a ridiculously expensive vacation, but I have no regrets about the vacation just ending, so I'm sure it will be money well spent. We also got some great perks for booking while on board the current ship, too. I booked BFF, too. After chatting with him this morning, I'm pretty sure he won't go, but I wanted to give him an opportunity to consider. If he decides to opt out, I forfeit only a $25 deposit. Win, win, IMO!

The last two nights were quite fitful - complete with weird dreams - including a dog napping by a purebred dog ring out of Russia...You'll be happy to know, I recovered my three abducted Airedales! LOL! I think that was a clear sign that I'm ready to get home and see my pups.

I'm guessing about 22 hour travel day, door to door. Hopefully, there will be some nice sleep involved between Zurich and San Francisco!

Wonderful Wednesday to all!!!!

Greetings all

A mixed day of sun and fog. Started the day with Scrabble and won two of three but lost to the Shark. Oh well. Next was meeting up with the new gallery treasurer to get her on the account at the bank. I brought her all this stuff to enable her to take over the deposits but she then decided she wanted me to still do them. Oh well. I will. I think she is a person who is focused on tiny details as she said she could not understand the cash deposits unless she did them herself. So I will add some additional info on each ticket. I am kind of glad to keep doing it as I think it would wear her out because she lives much further away from the place and has other chores. Plus if I was out of the finance job it means I would get assigned some other task I might hate; ie kitchen duty for our events.

Liz those lobsters are giant! Looks like a great dinner. By all means get J a little walk in.

Paula hope you got some good garden photos. The rhododendrons and azaleas are about finished here but everything else is coming on strong.

Peps I was wondering if you encountered any anti American sentiment on your trip. Looks like the Louvre closed and people in Spain were protesting tourists. Glad it has been a good trip for you all and that you will be home soon to begin the serious business of being retired.

Not much else. I stopped in the studio for a bit but did not get much done. I must begin serious prepping for my house guest soon.
