May I ask the name of the group? I hadn't thought about joining a FB group, but that's a good idea, thank you!
Lizanne, I am so sorry to hear of your great loss. It is such a good thing your daughter has been with you, and you can lean on each other for support and in love.
Congrats on the baby news! So cool that could help them out financially!
Congrats also on your consistency with the treadmill walking! You are doing better than me!
Neither DH or I have much of a pension. He gets about $100/ month from his deceased wife, my hospital stopped putting into our pension funds many years ago, so I only get about $300/ month from them. Thankfully, I get a good pension from my deceased husband (State pension plans tend to be very generous) and I can also use his leftover sick time pay to buy up health insurance premiums which should take me to Medicare age. Social Security and 401 Ks will have to round out the rest. I guess we'll get a better idea of actual costs/spending next year after we are both retired and move! And yes, kids will have to go off cell phone plans and current health plan come next year!

Hooray for getting to see them spend money on a miracle rather than waiting to leave them money! Way more amazing to get to witness the part you played.
Love must be in the air! Liz's DD getting married in less than 2 weeks, my DSD getting married in May, Liz's DS has a new beau, your DS has a new girl and I just got a text from my DS in Madison that he is not seeing his new beau any longer because he is "a conservative". Lol! I'm sure he will find plenty of Liberals to date in Madison!
Sadly, Red Lobster was a disappointment tonight. Ordered grilled shrimp and scallop skewers and the scallops were awful and the shrimp dry and over cooked.
You have to experience a Door County fish boil at least once but in my opinion the only part worth eating is the boiled potatoes and of course the cherry pie! If you do venture to Door County again, I highly recommend Alexander's. I actually had the best seafood I've ever eaten there!
Amen to your best-ever present to the nephew. YOU GAVE THEM A BABY!

Ditto, Lizanne. DM me for my contact info if you'd like to visit.
For me, grieving was a long, long process. One thing that was so helpful to me was finding a widows/widowers FB group that was exactly the kind of group that matched my needs. There are so many varieties--religious, non-religious, widows and/or widowers, spouses/partners of people who committed suicide, etc. etc. etc. Whatever vibe you're looking for or need, there's at least one great group out there for you.
One of the things I loved about the group I joined was that I didn't know a single soul in that group. That allowed me to be completely unfiltered and receive sincere feedback, whether it was agreement or "here's another way to look at it."
As I'm sure you've read and sensed, there is no right way to grieve or any proper timeline or schedule. Anyone who says you're doing it wrong needs to go jump off a cliff.
