Great idea to use something more visual to keep track of your schedule. You would be surprised at how many retired people over schedule themselves then complain. Especially those newly retired. I think retiring to be a caretaker kept that from happening to me. Then when I was ready to add activities back it was COVID time. So easy for me to do it methodically.

And fun retirement celebration! You will miss those folks.

Those slug wine stopper are awfully cute - no wonder they sell like hot cakes.

Part of the reason we meet people when we go out is that we usually sit at the bar to eat and end up chatting with people. When you live in areas where most of the people are in the same age group it is easy to find someone with similar interests. We may join the Elks Club up the street here. It's one of the New England gathering places LOL.

I'm glad you enjoyed the recognition ceremony. And not surprised there is no counting days anymore as your last ones will fly by.

Kirby has found all of his happy energy and then some. He's in a cone for another week. I thought that seemed excessive until I took it off for a minute and turned my back this morning and he chewed at his stitches drawing a little blood. Stinker. I'm sure it itches as it heals and that the shaved skin feels chafey.

I had a lazy day. Yesterday was the annual board meeting for the HOA and I finished the newsletter for the neighborhood. I never feel like there is anything to say and then it ends up 6 pages (though the template is such that there's not a ton on a page).

Tomorrow I have to be at the county courthouse by 8:15 to plead my case why I can't be on the grand jury for the next 4 months. I won't be here! But I have to go in person to tell them that. The bummer is, it's an hour and 40 minutes away. I hardly remember how to get up that early. And I feel guilty leaving Kirby with the cone alone for that long. Normally I would ask my iffy-neighbor-friend to come let him out, but we aren't at that level of friendship anymore. Hopefully it's a quick dismissal for me. And then I can quickly stop at Costco and head home.

I shall report back!

Love that phrase, DD! Exercise is the mortgage you pay for a good life. WOW! True words!

I am down to counting hours. Hehehehehe.... I'm basically going to play hooky tomorrow. I will go in, show my face, and leave. I have a dog show to get to. What are they going to do? Fire me??? Went to lunch with my music team. Surprise.... They made me a retirement basket! Among my treasures: A dozen grass fed, free range eggs (they know me too well - and I do bring hard boiled eggs almost every day), toilet paper with sayings such as, "HOLY SH*T! the legend has retired" and "It's not my problem anymore. I'm taking a sh*t." However, the word sh*t is the poop emoji. It's kind of cute; a first academic year of retirement calendar with photos from our 3 years as a music team; a scented candle that is labeled, "This smells like it isn't your problem anymore. You're retired!"; and a coffee cup that reads, "What kind of people are happy on Mondays? Retired!" I'm glad they went the silly route.

I started my new plan book last night. Yes, the teacher in me still wanted a tangible write on planner. So I ordered a 3 year monthly calendar. I realized that I miss the visual of a paper calendar. So, I will still use my phone, but the paper calendar provides the visual I need to understand how much I am scheduling. Just filling out the dog shows for July made me think twice about my choices. LOL!

Liz, small world, 6 degrees of separation, strange coincidences... whatever you want to call it, but whoa! Odd to have three in a single day. Perhaps a good omen???

Hope Kirby is recovering from his de-masculation (Hehehehe). Remember it will take a few months for the hormones to lessen in his body. No over night changes.

We were up in the 90s today. I'd be happier if it would stay around 85 - that is perfect summer weather to me. Above 90 gets a bit too warm in the afternoon.

Next time I check in I shall be RETIRED! Dang! It's surreal!

125 on the dot! I've been staying in a 1-2 lb. range which is good!

Busy day driving to my Mom's for her appointments tomorrow. I took her out to eat tonight, though she picked up the tab which was nice! Tomorrow we have two doctor's appointments and then I will make the 3 hour trek back home, hopefully in time to do dinner with the family!

Weather is supposed to be nicer tomorrow. A skort and sleeveless shirt waits! I'm actually chilly here at my brothers house. May have to put on socks before crawling into bed. I absolutely cannot fall asleep if my feet are cold!

I hope once I am retired I find some of your going to the club mojo. I am reminding myself of what one of my friends/mentor taught me, Exercise is the mortgage you pay for a good life.

Greetings all

Another great spring day here. Days sure are getting longer. I dragged myself to the gym and walked even though I did not feel like it. Glad I did. Always a good idea. Listened to the Village People. After that did the studio and made more stuff. Supply is low so I need to get busy. Firing day tomorrow. Caught up on all the gossip.

Nice to find old friends and connections Liz. Good Karma. DD is right - you have a gift for finding good people.

Countdown DD! Not surprised that you have so much to do that there is not much time to think about it. So many tasks mount up. Hope you are headache free. Enjoy the events.

We are still watching Government Cheese but it is very odd.

Not sure what is for dinner tonight. Freezer exploration needed.

Paula send me your address and I will send you a slug wine stopper. Alway more underway.

Diane S
