DD, it sounds like you get a hard copy of the Sunday Times. I'd love to do that, but for years (decades, actually) I have stuck with the digital version because getting a hard copy in Taos or the Ozarks was not an option.

When I was in my twenties and living in Austin, I belonged to the 300 or so folks in town who had the Sunday Times flown in. We took turns picking up the papers and delivering them to everyone who had a subscription. President Johnson was back in Texas by then and lived about 40 miles out of town, and he was one of the subscribers. FTR, I never met him, and he never delivered my paper. ;)

141.0

Liz, what a perfect space to dwell in amongst gchildren old enough to take care of themselves; you just get to play with and enjoy!

Up and getting around early. Have taken some more x-mas down and made a batch of cottage cheese- experimenting to see how dry curds keep in the freezer. Will pull the frozen out in a few days, "cream" it and compare with fresh for texture and taste. Am hoping for positive results as a whole batch makes more than I can use before tossing. Like yogurt, it is so much tastier and costs only the price of the milk used.

We're off on a short trip this afternoon to pick up some items won online, mostly art paper, tools and paints. Scored big time, including 3 Arches water color blocks (9x12, 11x14 and 18x24) $47, Koh-I-noor set of pens $9, Paasche airbrush kit $11... etc as well as some mystery boxes .... For this half off half kind of shopper--I'm in 7th heaven!!!

120.5 - no surprise at the uptick as traveling yesterday has me a bit constipated. Hoping this morning's coffee takes care of that.

The temperature here in Albany is 27 this morning so not horrible. The high will be in the mid-30's. Not sure we will take long Justice walks here but he has staked out his spot on the couch under a fuzzy blanket. He and Stella, a smaller doodle, get along fine except when Stella tries to cozy up with me when he is already there. He snaps his displeasure and she moves elsewhere.

Travel yesterday was smooth. We had breakfast with DSD before she flew out to Miami. Granddaughter was home mid-day from her Dad's and grandson home from his activities in late afternoon. The neighboring girl who is like an older sister (18) came over to hang out and we took the 2 girls to dinner (grandson declined and got his own stuff). A friend of the older one came over for a bit after work. Nice young ladies! I met them a few years ago and it is great to see them keeping their great personalities as they mature. The older girls are seniors so are making college decisions these days.

Today we will drive around DH's old neighborhood where the kids grew up and eat lunch at the deli he loves to get lunch from. We will split a Reuben today (the best I have ever had) and I plan to get chicken soup to go for tomorrow. Not much else on the agenda other than shuttling the granddaughter around. The grandson has his own car so we just have to keep tabs on him.

Have a magnanimous Monday!

Tommy Bahama really does make nice clothing - generally wash and pack well and hold up for a long time. They are more expensive than some but then I see people where I live go to stores and drop $500+ for a casual outfit. Not me!

We are vicariously enjoying your trip

No weekly shopping in our household either - we go every few days as needed.

Enjoying our Maui vacay immensely! I'm also enjoying intuitive eating and not weighing daily (or in my case, for 2 weeks). It would drive me crazy to not weigh daily at home though!

Liz, I thought of you as I was buying clothes at Tommy Bahama last night. A little more pricey than I usually spend on clothes but I can tell the quality is excellent!

Going to make shrimp with microwaved rice for dinner. I found these little Fat Boy Jr. ice cream sandwiches that are the perfect size for little tummies with little appetites!

Yes, I read pretty much everything, except some of the sports stories. I usually save the magazine and the book review section for later in the week.

Greetings all

Another sunny day here but rather chilly. I will take the sun. Waiting for my hair to dry before hitting the gym and studio and maybe grocery. I find I no longer do the big weekly grocery run but instead go every two or three days for a dinner or two. DH has his favorite store where he buys all his junk food that I wish he would not bring home but so be it.

Yes DD that early morning slickness before the sun is out is the worst stuff. Hope tomorrow is not too bad. Meanwhile pig out on the NYT. You really read everything? Great information and so well assembled.

So my brother is out of LA and I think he should stay put but knowing him he will probably go back in a few. finally got the little quilt packed up and ready to ship tomorrow. And tomorrow is a big day because Walter the puppy will come by to visit. Fun.

We are still watching White Collar. DH says it's the tv version of junk food. It is. As is Suits for which the LA version is coming up.

Enjoy the grandkids Liz. Nice of you to help out. Hoping Albany is not too icky.

Not much else. If anything interesting happens I will report, but don't hold your breath.

Sounds like a relaxing day. Be careful driving and walking on the ice. That's what makes me nervous about cold weather climates. It was 35 here in Albany today with a light snow cover from yesterday. It will get to the teens tonight so the driveway will be slick. Makes me nervous about taking Justice out.

I hope it's not too cold in Albany. Tomorrow low of -4. Brisk. I have a 7:15 am meeting Monday morning, so ill probably get to experience the low temperature in all it's glory. It's snowing lightly here. Just a nuisance snow, but it is making the roads slippery. Once the temperature bottoms out this evening, the chemicals don't work so well, so besides being cold, it will probably be an icy commute tomorrow. But, I am another week closer to retirement, so I can do this!

After coffee, DH and I bought some groceries. With both of us less interested in food, the pickings get pretty slim. And if I don't have something more meal like from time to time, I start to feel depleted. So we are restocked with some foods that are meds friendly, that should keep us fueled up and satisfied.

Time for more paper reading. The Minneapolis paper I can read in under an hohr, but the NY Times takes several hours if I read everything. And I do. :) Some laundry, and that pretty much covers my Sunday plans.
