Here is DD's post which I got because I am admin. True power!
Good morning on this bright Saturday! Somewhere, Peps is waking up to his now endless weekend! And perhaps Liz is airborne? I am lazing around, but will be getting ready soon to go for coffee.
We are starting out the weekend with a nice temperature jump into the 80s. Yesterday it was very hazy due to forest fire smoke from Canada. The winds will hopefully shift today, and carry it away. Sadly this warm, sunny weather is predicted to go away on Tuesday when we are having my retirement happy hour. The venue has a really lovely patio on a lake, and we reserved the gazebo right on the water. It is my karma. Almost every milestone party I've ever had , 30th, 40th and 60th birthdays, it rained. Even though my birthday is the last week of July, which is statistically the driest week in Minnesota. DH claims it's because I am a water witch, and I draw water to me. But if it's moved inside, we should still have fun.
Today we're headed to our good friend's retirement party at 4pm. She had an opportunity to retire 2 years ago with severance, but then her company, 3M, was starting a new division and asked her to be part of it's start up. She said she enjoyed the challenge, but now that it's up and running, she's ready to be done.
Yesterday, I brought some issues to my new supervisor that I thought she needed to be aware of for next year. Guess who is tasked with trying to sort them out in the next 2 weeks? No good deed goes unpunished. I'll do what I can, but since admin needs to weigh in, I probably will still be kicking the can down the road, because they'll say we're going to meet, but then they won't. And I certainly won't remind them :) But that is for Monday. Today is beautiful, and it's time to head for St. Paul and coffee.

I think I mentioned that I was only going to do a "drive by" at school yesterday. I got to school a few minutes before the bell, made sure the principal saw me, then went to hang out with my work bestie/grade level partner at my old site, left and got home, grabbed Buster and was on the road to the dog show by 9 am. Got home from the show a little after 4:30, took a nap, got up and then went to a celebratory dinner with Ron, BFF and Aunty Kathryn.
I sat quietly at my dog show set up and watched my retirement countdown app tick down to ZERO. It seemed a bit anticlimactic, (perhaps because I was alone?), but it did sink in. It's real. I'm gonna get "paid" for staying at home! Strange, but wonderful!
Today I show late, so I'm having a very leisurely morning. I got up at 7 for the dogs, but went back to bed until just before 9! Luxury!
Sadly, next week is way over booked, but I knew that. I have a lot of client dogs that need doing before I head off to Europe on the 8th.
Happy Aruba, Liz! Will you be there for the Sand Sculpture competition this year? I always really enjoy the photos you post!
Gonna be another hot one here today. I think triple digits are forecast.
She does have diabetes. The toe is the same one that they did a partial amputation on in January when we were in Hawaii. It is not healing so they need to take the whole toe!
Shoot, I tried to copy and paste the post I made, but I lost it. Anyhow, have an awesome time in Aruba Liz! I'm heading out for coffee in St. Paul. Yeah for Saturday everyone!
No weight - in a hotel room near Boston. Aruba here we come!
Peps didn't check in yesterday - must have been doing some retirement celebrating!
As Diane S suggested, newly retired folks should be careful to not overbook. One activity at a time. I think I mentioned before that in Florida we know quite a few people who are busy every day all day. Some by choice because they don't know how to stop or say no, but some end up feeling overwhelmed.
It was hard leaving Justice yesterday but I know he will be fine. He and Brandy have found their rhythm, though Brandy irked him greatly when she was a puppy. It is 5:45 am now. We leave for the airport by 6:30, will have breakfast there after we get through security, and will be leaving on the plane just after 10. In Aruba around 3, checking into the resort there around 4. Then we are on Aruba time! Pizza Bob around the corner is the place for the first night dinner.
Have a surprising Saturday!

OMG - a toe amputation? Does she have diabetes? That does sound like a tough and frustrating day. Lucky your Mom has you to help her.

You have been so dedicated getting to the gym and walking. Is there no good place outside to walk on nice days? That might give a bit more incentive. Maybe at a track at a high school if looking for even ground?

I am sorry you have had regain - DD is right - it just doesn't work the same for everyone.
I'm glad you got out of jury duty without too much difficulty. I was envisioning a judge of the type who doesn't accept any excuses (I saw one of those once when summoned). I was excused from the jury that time because one of the lawyers didn't want me - I think because I worked for an insurance company.

I agree with CC - I have used power washers on many things including that type of chair. They work great. But do it on a warm enough day as you may get a bit wet. And be careful not to directly power wash yourself - I got my leg once when power washing the deck stairs and ended up with quite a bruise.
