202.2

My current life of seclusion seems quite dull in comparison to the rest of you. LOL!

Funny teacher retirement thing... I wasn't sure if today was a school holiday and had to think about it.

Liz, I'm sorry yesterday's port was a little shady! Not nice to be constantly panhandled.

Diamond D. you are already airborne, I'm sure. Wishing you the best of travels. I hope that this long awaited retirement adventure is exactly what you need after your mom's passing. I look forward to reading about your Brazilian escapades! I will watch your FB for pics!

CC, I am jealous of your scale number! LOL! But sitting on my duff all day eating bonbons while I recover probably isn't helping!

We have sun today, but it is chilly. Still in the 40s close to 11 am. Diane S. you are having a lot of sun for your part of CA this winter. How nice for you! All the weather people are saying this is the first year since 2000 that there is no rain shortage state wide. I'm surprised because I don't feel like it's been very wet this year.

I need to venture out and get a few staple like coffee for me and chicken parts for the dogs. Maybe I will get my azz in gear and go with Ron to his training session to say hey to our trainer and then go on and get some shopping done.

Oh, I am so sick and tired of my ears being painful. I read it's a normal part of the process, but shee**** does put a damper on sleeping comfort. I may call and have the surgeon take a look, just to make sure.

Let's make it a magical Monday, huh?

Well thankfully, it's a very mild cold! More an annoyance than anything.

Operation Wedding is off to a good start. I made that farro roasted veggie salad yesterday (added chicken) which was tasty and I have lots of leftovers for lunches. For dinner I had marinated some beef flap meat I had gotten from Costco in a Korean bbq marinade recipe I found. Easy and delicious! I've never heard of flap meat (dreadful name), but it's like skirt steak. I did that on the bbq and steamed some green beans and of course added butter to that. That should cover me for dinners for a while. Breakfast was yogurt, berries, and granola and I had a Sumo tangerine for dessert. Processed carbs are my downfall, so I'm not counting anything or limiting "whole food carbs", just trying to avoid a lot of non-whole food/processed carbs. The granola is a processed carb, but it was just a couple of tablespoons and tasted good. Perfection is the enemy of good...?

I'm an Olympic level gold medal water weight storer - down 4.4 pounds in just a few days. 199.6 today which made me feel good after hovering at or above 200 since August. That's still 20 pounds under "obesity" for my height, so while it sounds big for a woman, it's about 16 pounds over the normal weight range. I can lose 16 pounds in 138 days...

Does anyone else have BritBox? I watched a couple of good things on there - Protection and Riot Women. Protection is about a witness protection cop who uncovers a mole in the department. Riot Women is about a group of messed up menopausal women who form a rock band for a talent show. That one they are slowly releasing the episodes. (Hate when they do that!)

Anyway, that's it here. I might clean something today. We had a wind storm the other day and the windblown debris at my front door is about a foot high, so I need to get rid of that.

Take care!

We are now in Samana, Dominican Republic. We anchored here at about 6:30 am. I doubt we will get off the ship here. When we are anchored, they open up a back deck and put out kayaks, paddle boards, big rafts, etc.

Yesterday it cleared and was in the mid 80s and muggy. We went to the area with pools and a lazy river to walk around but were not impressed. When we went outside of that area to try to walk to a fort it was an unpleasant looking area and we were constantly accosted by people trying to sell us stuff. We were back at the ship by noon and had a nice quiet day in the sun, pool, and having lunch.

There ended up being 8 of us watching the Patriots in the lounge on 2 iPads and a couple of phones. One couple was rooting for the Texans and the rest for the Patriots. Fun watching as a group and great to see the Patriots win. I guess we will be doing the same thing next week in San Juan.

My sinus infection seems very close to gone but I am going to finish the antibiotics and continue the steroid spray until it is completely eradicated this time.

It is our friend's birthday today so we are going to a specialty restaurant tonight. Our other friend's birthday is in 2 nights but that may be when we have the ship BBQ.

Have a multifaceted Monday!

We see lizards lying on the pavement on cold days in Florida but don't have too many iguanas in our area either.

It was supposed to be a generic version of non-drowsy extended release Dramamine but it definitely still made me more drowsy than usual.

Unless one has a heat pump, the heat in Florida is provided by electrical coils which the usual AC air (uncooled) blows over. Takes forever to heat up. I thought it was broken when I first used it after we replaced our AC. The maintenance guy had to show me how it worked and explain why it worked so badly.

Never heard of Kevin's - will have to look them up.

I did see tha****er aerobics was cancelled at our Florida place. Not sorry to be missing yet another cold front!

Enjoy your golf cart. I loved mine but alas they are not allowed where we live (but we also only have a 1 car garage so it would be difficult to have one).

You will be excited once you are there and start your new life for the next few weeks. Nice tradition to be met at the airport and love the description of your neighborhood. Can't wait to hear further descriptions and see pictures!

So sorry you are sick again! Must be your immune system leaving you too exposed. You are sure it isn't a sinus infection?

Very inspiring food choices though I would agree that one needs to concentrate on the important stuff first and not the Diet Coke.
