There are those places that feel like they are knitted into our DNA. I've never been to Finland, (6 of my great grandparents were born there), yet I feel great pride in their accomplishments and concerns about Russian threats. I'm glad you are enjoying your heart's homeland so much.

Same issues with ratatouille in my house - I love it but DH is very unsure.

Cold yucky weather. Worked out on the treadmill, made a Costco run and will also go to the local grocery soon. Also picked up replacement hot tub cover!
Tonight we are having the viral meal of taco meat, roasted sweet potato, cottage cheese and sliced avocado all drizzled in hot honey! I'll let you know the verdict!

DS2 toured the cathedral in Cologne on his post HS European vacation too!

Mixed clouds today as I sit here drinking coffee and watching war erupt in the middle east. Jeez I just can't understand why these people can't figure out that war is good for nothing and no one wins ever. It is truly beyond me. Guess I should be grateful I do no live in a war zone ****alifornia....).
So DD its a wrap!! Enjoy your well deserved retirement time. May this weekend be filled with tea drinking and plant shopping. Enjoy.
Peps I looked up the Cologne cathedral. Magnificent! What a thing to behold. Hope the palace is equally great.
Well heck Liz, no fish. Just as well - nothing to clean and cook. Plus more Mexican opportunities.
Gallery duty this afternoon. DH has gone to lunch at the Chinese buffet so he will bring that home. All is good.
We have been watching season 2 of The Recruit. Pretty good. Almost done.
Not much else. I really need to figure out how to get some more veggies in our diet. I like them but DH has reverted to little kid eating. I love rattatouie. He does not.
Time to get moving. Hope to have time at the gallery to do some walking.

Liz and I started today's thread at the same time, so I will post here and try to delete the one I started!
We crossed over into Germany last night. I felt a little joyful as it happened. Germany is my mom's country of origin. I feel a deep and strong connection to that part of my history.
We are docked near Cologne. We'll go by bus for a tour of old Cologne after breakfast. This afternoon I have us booked on a tour of the Bruhl palace, a UNESCO sight. I also put us on a wait list for an historical tour of the cathedral. It is of high interest to Ron. I would rather see the palace, but I'm willing to compromise on this one. Actually I'm hoping that there will be a single ticket for Ron, so I can go to the palace. LOL! I would not mind doing the palace tour solo.
Shot on board. I'm hoping it doesn't interfere too much with my enjoyment of my meals over the weekend. Saturday and Sunday are generally my lower intake days.
Okay... Back from the walking tour. The highlight of the morning tour was Cathedral, so Ron is happy and wants to go the palace. I will say the cathedral was awesome in the true sense of the word. I was absolutely awe struck by the architecture and artistry.
Resting up for the afternoon tour of the palaces. Perhaps a little more later.
So far, Royal Viking is worth every penny spent.
